

Nigel Michael Grant, resident of Winter Haven, Florida and native of Mandeville, Jamaica, passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2022. Mr. Grant served as the mathematics coach at Ridge Community High School for five (5) years after serving as a senior math teacher there for ten (10) years. He previously taught at DeCarteret College before working with the Jamaica Ministry of Mining & Energy and the Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS).
Mr. Grant was a proud alumnus of Manchester High School and the University of the West Indies. He pursued extensive graduate studies in Economics at University of Colorado, Boulder, Williams College in Massachusetts and Syracuse University in upstate New York.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Nathalie Dawn Grant (née Bascombe) and three children Dr. Yoran Grant-Greene (Winston Greene), Nicholas Grant and Erin Grant. Siblings include sisters Sandra Forbes and Janice Grant Taffe (Joseph Taffe) and brothers Lauria Grant II (Rosemarie Grant), Donovan Grant and Norman Grant. Additional family members include several treasured aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Nigel is predeceased by his father, Lauria Alton Grant, former police officer with the Jamaica Constabulary Force and his mother, Lunnette Lenora Bailey Grant, retired matron of Mandeville Hospital, Jamaica.
The family will hold a private visitation on Thursday March 3, 2022 at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home, Winter Haven, FL. A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday March 17, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Holy Family Episcopal Church, Orlando, FL.
