Michael, I will forever remember your humility, your brilliance, your smile and sense of humour. Keep soaring my friend. I know you are encouraging and teaching as you explore on this  journey.  Missed by so many.

It's hard to believe it has been two years since my friend's passing as it seems like only yesterday.  That may be because his photo, directly behind my monitor, reminds me each day that he is no longer with us. 
Nigel, I miss our hilarious banters and your wisdom delivered with such humor and humility.   You were a special human being.

To Nathalie, Erin and Nick, may our God of comfort pull especially close to you today and embrace you with the assurance of the future. May your treasured memories of the joy he brought into your lives bring a smile to your face and warmth in your heart, even in the midst of the pain and tears of his absence.

I remember you all and Nigel on this day with a prayer.

Michael, I will always remember your sense of humour as I am sure so many others will.

My condolences to the berieved family.  Nigel and I were students at Colorado University and later at Williams College Massachestts US. Today I tried to get find ways of getting in touch with him only to find that he passed away in February. It is so sad as I remember when we were in US he already a family of 3 including him.

To Nigel’s family especially Janice my classmate, my condolences and prayers are with you. Gone too early, Nigel  impacted many lives and generations through his calling. He choose to use his brilliance to serve in a low keyed way as he was. We are the sum of all those who touched our lives in some ways. My thoughts and condolences are with all members of your family. Nigel and I worked together at the Jamaica Public Service company for 11 years. At the latter part of his tenure, he was the Director of my division, and many wise and far-reaching developments took place under his leadership.

We also miss him for his candor and his enlightened views and not to mention his penchant for adding  the spiciest of humor. Yes, he was a good storyteller and providing some laughter was never far away.  

I would like again to extend my deepest sympathies as well as wishing the entire family comfort and peace to face the future together; and I know that the memory of Nigel will long continue to be an emblem  of pride.


He was one of the nicest and the brightest. His humility was unsurpassed and the respect he earned well deserved.  Though he put his all into the tasks at hand he would always find time to share a joke or two making  the difficult days we shared, easier. I will miss my friend but his memory will always make me smile. Rest In Peace, Nigel.

My heart is sadden to hear of the passing of one of my dear friend.  I can recall many beautiful memories over the years that we shared together.  Studying and discussing economic theories day after day.  Somehow, the years just when by and life keep on moving as if it's speeding out of control.  
Every once in a while we press pause.  It was this past Sunday, February 27, 2022, I suddenly had the earnest desire to pray for you and Jr.  I had to press pause for a few seconds not knowing why.   I now know why God wanted me to pray for you.  He was calling you home. The many memories and years we had at Syracuse University and beyond will always be in my heart.  Mike, I will always remember your beautiful intelligent soul.  I thank God for blessing me with a friend like you.  May you be free of pain and your beautiful soul rest in peace......

I remember the first time we met, and you were so welcoming and supportive, knowing that I was scared of cats…..you would make sure that they stayed outside….when I visited! Your quiet demeanor and warmth, that I will cherish as I see so much of that in your nephew….Lauria III….

My sincere condolences to the family. Nigel played a major role in my academic life. He was the one who saw the potential in me and propelled me in advancing my studies. We were in a negotiation meeting and I became loud in defending the cause of the meter readers. He pulled me aside and told me I should go back to school as this group is not for me.  I took his advice and now I am the proud holder of a master’s degree. I moved up from a line staff into management. Thank you Nigel

Nigel  and I worked at JPSCo.  A hard worker, he was committed to whatever he did.  Pray that his soulwill rest in peace.  Condolences to his family and friends.

Jay and I had a deep respect and fondness for Nigel.  He was a colleague and friend, and he possessed a wonderfully sweet spirit that was refreshing and uplifting.  He always had a kind word.  I particularly enjoyed his greeting. He would bow slightly and call me Lady Schnoor. I in turn bowed and called him Sir Grant.  We shall miss him, but are assured of our heavenly reunion with him.  May God deliver peace and comfort to his wife and children, extended family and friends. 

As a founding member of the Bonitto Crescent/Close domino team which included Junior, Richie, Evon and myself you will surely be missed. This fraternity started from early high school to college into working years. Every chance we got the group assembled for a game. I can hear Mike delivering a “sap” to his opponents and saying “ be thankful for small mercies “. 
A lot of ideas were generated around the domino table. One plan was to fly to Miami purchase a boat and sail back to Jamaica. Mike threw a wrench in the idea by saying “oh yeah, let me see how you are going to get it into the island”. After a while we realized we were talking about a boat we did not need to get into the island. 
I think Mike is saying (quote Sinatra) “and now the end is here and so I face that final curtain, my friend I’ll make it clear, I’ll state my case of which I’m certain, I’ve lived a life that’s full, I travelled each and every highway and more much more than this, I did it my way. Regrets I’ve had a few but then again too few to mention, I did what I had to do I saw it through without exemption and more much more, I did it my way. 
So journey good, my friend until we meet on the other side. 

Rest in peace my beloved cousin. Your love for family and life was a blessing to us all. Until we meet again. 

     We have lost one of the good guys, a gem of a man. I knew Michael for over 50 years, a function of being good friends with Janice. I had the insights from the sister, a visitor to their home and eventually friends with Michael also. He always exuded a quiet dignity, astute and inciteful beyond his years. I too remember the lisp but also the keen wit and sense of humor born of a brilliant mind. He was calm and understated, easy to be around, decent to the core.

      We all hung out together as teenagers, living some our best times at Manchester High. The laughter, the fun, the camaraderie, the sixth form block was our stage and our lives played out with vibrancy through exams, parties, sports days, Tops chicken and Odeon theater trips.

     Quality and excellence were second nature to the Grant  family and Michael lived it. I am happy to have known him and to have memories of which he is a part.

     Yes, the good die young but Michael’s footprint is indelible. Heartfelt condolences to his family .Rest in Peace my friend, you wrote a good story.

We lost contact when I migrated to the US except for a brief phone call when I visited and Michael was working at JPS.    We chatted as if no time had elapsed

Granty” was my best friend in high school. Somehow we lost contact when I migrated to this country, but I never forgot the laughter and good times we shared. I can remember when we were in 2nd form, I was asked by our form teacher to give a talk on a topic of my choice for an upcoming classroom prayers. This was a challenge for me because writing an essay was never my thing. But I knew who could and who I could trust. Granty wrote a two and a half page masterpiece for me in less than half an hour. We shared so may secrets, so many memories. He was like a brother. 
You fought a good fight – rest in peace my brother.


My deepest condolences to Nathalie and Nigel's family on his transition.  I pray that his soul will rest in peace.  Nigel was a consummate teacher, always patient, kind, and willing to see the bright side of any problem or challenge.  I am saddened to hear of his passing.  We worked together for almost a decade.  I remember that he gave me many light-hearted moments during our time of service in the Executive Management Unit of the Jamaica Public Service Company Ltd. (JPS).  It was hard to keep a straight face around Nigel.  May the angels take him to Paradise and light perpetual shine upon him.

Nigel, you were the best. I'm saddened but know that God is in charge. To you Nats, you were loved. My prayers for all the family and friends. Since hearing of your passing I've shared memories with friends from Mandeville and with mutual colleagues from JPS. Rest well my brethren rest well.

Mike, Mike my brother..... so many fond memories at MHS and after. There was never a dull moment when you were around. You were one of my senior friends at MHS that helped me survive and thrive eventually in Maths. I struggled with Math. Mike said "struggle builds resilience". Mike helped me pass O level Math & encouraged me to do it in 6th form. Mike was very instrumental in my academic success. I am forever grateful to him and his entire family. I remember Nigel as a member of Senior Management at JPS who was a valuable member of the Company’s negotiating team. Was a calm and shred person.

Nigel and I met during the 2016-2017 school year. Nigel's morning greeting in the Math Department hallway at RCHS used to be "Professor" followed by a fingers snap. The routine continued until his health began to deteriorate. His voice is still in my head, and he will always be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his entire family. Nigel's legacy is one that all of us can draw inspiration from as he lived his life with strong morals, principles, and arguments supported by a sense of empathy and compassion to all human beings around him. Rest in peace my dear friend.
