Vera worked as a telephone operator with General Telephone until she retired. In her spare time she enjoyed cooking, crocheting and taking care of others. Elizabeth also enjoyed being the family historian, taking pictures and making movies to document the family memories.
Vera was predeceased by her husband Baylis Joe Gatlin, daughter Sherry Gatlin, great-grandchild Ferran Hunt and siblings Roberta Kelly, JP Rivers, Faye Rivers, Gardner Rivers, Tony Rivers, Roger Ganey and Rick Ganey. She is survived by her son Baylis Joe Gatlin Jr. (Tammy), daughter Kathy Gatlin, Sister Freida Hart, grandchildren Carmen Hill, Renee Hill, Heather Hill, BJ Gatlin, Joey Touchstone and Christina Gatlin along with her great-grandchildren Jared Villegas, Devin Villegas, Aaron Villegas, Clayton Villegas, Gunner Hunt, Carlie Hill, Macey Hunt, MayKnlee Moody, Karson Moody, Miley Hill, Brody Vann Keese, Baylis Joe Gatlin IV, Caden Touchstone, Serenity Higgs and Ayden Higgs. Vera also leaves behind her great-great-granddaughter Harmony Villegas as well as her fur babies Bella and Toby.
A gathering of family and friends will take place at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home in Winter Haven, Florida on Friday, June 4, 2021 from 10:00am to 11:00am with a Celebration of Life Service to begin at 11:00am. Following the service, the burial will take place at Lakeside Memorial Park in Winter Haven, Florida.
