

Mass Transit Engineer
WINTER HAVEN - Wallace H. Holmes, 87, of Winter Haven passed away from heart failure on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at his residence.
Wallace was born on April 23, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois to James E. and Evelyn Holmes. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Marines in the South Pacific. He retired from the Florida Department of Transportation as a Mass Transit Engineer. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the local Woodcrafters club.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Rosemary Holmes, his daughter Claudia Lee McCarthy and his sister Jane E. Wallach. He is survived by his three children, James E. Holmes, Kathleen M. DeLoach (Fred), and John W. Holmes (Karen), along with 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
The family also wishes to give thanks to Faye, April, Arilla, Brenda and Anna for all the care they provided.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 11:00 am at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home in Winter Haven.I
