

Barbara was born in Lubbock, Texas on May 8,1952 to Major Preston A. Wallace (USAF) and Irene Swartz Wallace. She graduated from Colonial High School and received a B.A. Degree from Pfeiffer College, now Pfeiffer University. Barbara was married to Willard W. Martin, Jr but divorced a few years later.
She is survived by her sister Vivian Wallace of Winter Park, Uncle Carl and Aunt Shirley Swartz of Ross, Ohio and Aunt Betty Swartz of Hamilton, Ohio, in addition to numerous cousins scattered across the country and overseas.
She began her career as an Item Processor for First Union Bank and after surviving several mergers attained the title of team leader for her department. She retired from Wells Fargo after more than 25 years.
Barbara was a seasoned traveler thanks to her father’s military career. Stationed in England, the family toured Northern Europe, England & Scotland. Stationed in Texas and later in California, the family visited many of the iconic national parks. Barbara returned to tour Paris, England and Ireland as an adult.
She was an avid soccer fan and followed the Liverpool Football Club of the English Premier League and was also a season ticket holder of the Orlando City Soccer Club. Barbara attended the 1994 FIFA World Cup here in Orlando between Netherlands and Ireland which was the ultimate for a fan. She also was a Florida Gators fan.
Barbara loved reading and held many subscriptions to News and Sports outlets which she used as sources of stories to help relate to her coworkers. She also loved novels, especially who-dun-it usually figuring out the culprit before the author revealed it. She also enjoyed foreign born writers from Iceland, Denmark and of course J.K. Rowling of England.
Barbara volunteered for the Orlando Fringe Festival serving as cashier and cash drawer reconciler. She loved many genres of music and attended numerous concerts including Simon & Garfunkel, Gordon Lightfoot, Harry Chapin and Jimmy Buffet to name a few.
Her Celebration of Life Service will be held at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home Goldenrod, 7520 Aloma Avenue, Winter Park on Saturday, September 27, 2025 from 2-6 pm. On line condolences and pictures can be left on their website.
