Brandy Holley Weiss, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister and teacher, passed away suddenly on May 28, 2026 at the Orlando Regional Medical Center. Born on September 13, 1973 to Kathy and Vincent Pektor of Lake Alfred, Florida, Brandy quickly became her daddy’s beautiful princess, her mom’s steady light, and her younger sister Crystal’s guiding strength and forever best friend. She graduated from Auburndale Senior High School in 1991, completed an Associate of Arts from Polk Community College in 1993, and a Bachelor’s degree in Radio and Television from the University of Central Florida (UCF) in 1995. She was a proud member of Delta Gamma. She also received her Masters of Education, Elementary Education from UCF.
Brandy taught elementary school in Orange County Public Schools for more than a decade, starting her career at Bonneville Elementary and ending her last school year recently as a first-grade teacher at Cheney Elementary. She was beloved by her coworkers and countless numbers of students and parents whose lives she touched and brightened.
Through her future mother-in law and fellow teacher at Bonneville Elementary, Joni Weiss, Brandy was introduced to the love of her life, Jon Weiss, in 1998. They married in 1999 and spent almost twenty-seven years building and cultivating a life that Brandy loved deeply. Brandy and Jon brought out the best in each other and were each other’s biggest supporters through all of life’s little and big adventures. They took many family trips to coastal Maine and the Outer Banks, making sure to stop at all of the Targets along their routes. These Target trips were part of their twenty-year commitment to buying toys for families in need at Christmas, first through Toys for Tots and later through the Orange County Mayor’s Holiday Toy Drive. Brandy and Jon have been one of the biggest local donors to these efforts, investing countless time, energy, and resources to purchase over 17,000 toys for local families.
Brandy’s proudest accomplishment was raising two amazing kids, Julie (now 19) and Ian (now 21). She spent over 15 years as a dedicated stay-at-home mom and was their biggest supporter and cheerleader. Brandy was a proud Scout mom who supported Ian’s successful quest to become an Eagle Scout by serving as Troop 424 Committee Chair, although she left the outdoor adventures of camping and backpacking to Ian and Jon. Brandy preferred to read books, play Sudoku, watch General Hospital, add to her whimsical home décor of silly goose, or spend quiet time wandering on a beach collecting seashells and rocks. She loved going thrifting with Julie, snuggles with her dog Lucky, and puppy training with her grand-dog Graffiti. Brandy’s kind and loving spirit, sprinkled with more than a dash of silly and whimsy, will be deeply missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Brandy leaves behind many friends and family who are stunned and saddened by her sudden and unexpected passing. She is survived by her loving husband Jon Weiss, daughter Julie Weiss, son Ian Weiss, sister Crystal Stephens, parents Vincent and Kathy Pektor, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and aunts and uncles.
A memorial service will be held at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 1603 E Winter Park Rd, Orlando, FL 32803, on June 13, 2026 at 4:30pm. A reception celebrating Brandy’s life will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to support the Orange County Mayor’s 2026 Holiday Toy Drive. Toys can be brought to the memorial service or donated at a later date.
