

It is with profound sorrow that we share the news of the passing of Charles Thomas Day on January 28th, following a long, courageous battle with liver disease. Charles, affectionately known as "Tom," was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother. His unwavering faith and strong convictions were a source of inspiration to all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by those whose lives he touched.
Charles Thomas Day, born on November 6, 1947, in New Haven, Connecticut, lived a life rich in experiences and dedication. Raised in Connecticut, Charles moved to Florida in 1963, where he would eventually make his home and leave an indelible mark on those who knew him.
Tom was the son of Charles V. Day Jr. (Daytona Beach, FL) and W. Earlene Ammons (Ludowici, GA). His early years in Connecticut were shaped by his experiences at Parochial school, where, as he often shared, how the nuns were remarkably skilled with a ruler at arm's length. These anecdotes from his schooling years were a testament to the disciplined environment of his education.
Tom’s sense of duty and patriotism led him to serve in the United States Marine Corps as a Lance Corporal. He served two combat tours in Vietnam, a period that profoundly influenced his life. Tom took immense pride in being a Marine, embodying the values of honor, courage, and commitment. His service to his country was a cornerstone of his identity and a source of great pride.
After relocating to Florida in 1963, Tom dedicated himself to creating a fulfilling life that revolved around his passions and family. He earned an Associate of Applied Science in Dental Technology from Florida Southern College and spent more than 45 years working at Walt Disney World as an Engineering Service Foreman and Scenic Artist. In addition to his career, Tom found joy and satisfaction in various hobbies, including traveling, fishing, and sports. He was also a devout churchgoer, finding solace and community in his faith.
Tom had a deep love for music, which he expressed through his exceptional skills as a drummer, guitarist, and singer. Music was a language through which he connected with others and shared his creativity and emotions.
Tom cherished his family above all. He is survived by his loving wife, Sylvia, and his children: daughter April Day-Taylor and her husband Patrick Taylor of Lake Worth, Florida; sons Lee W. Day of Longwood, Florida, and Troy Day of Apopka, Florida. His legacy extends to his
grandchildren, Lauren Day-Taylor and Joshua Taylor, also of Lake Worth, Florida, who will carry forward the memories and values he instilled in them.
Additionally, Tom is survived by his brother Michael “JD” Day and his wife Lisa, of Beckley, West Virginia, who, along with the rest of the family, will remember him fondly for his warmth, humor, and unwavering love.
He is predeceased by his parents his sister, Lawanna, grandparents, and several cousins, aunts and uncles, who undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms in the afterlife.
Charles Thomas Day's life was marked by a dedication to service, a love for his family, and a passion for music. His story is one of resilience, honor, and the enduring impact of a life well-lived. As we remember him, we celebrate the many facets of his character and the lasting legacy he leaves behind.
