

Donald R. Dunlap, MD of Winter Park, FL passed away Friday, June 24, 2011. A native of Indianapolis, IN, Donald practiced internal medicine in Winter Park for 40 years until his retirement in 2005. The son of the late Harold and Myrtle Dunlap, Donald graduated from Shortridge High School in 1952. Then attended the University of Pennsylvania where he received an undergraduate degree in biology in 1956. After graduating from the Indiana University School of Medicine in Bloomington, IN, he interned at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, then returned to Indianapolis for his residency at Indiana University School of Medicine. He spent two years in the Army Medical Core as a Captain stationed in Fort Hood, TX and completed a fellowship at Krannert Institute of Cardiology, Indiana University School of Medicine. Don was devoted to the practice of medicine and his family. He loved his miniature dachshund, Sorry, his long-haired domestic feline, Sasha and the Indianapolis 500. He is survived by his wife, Linda L. Dunlap; sister, Dorothy House; daughter, Lauren D. (Robert) Penter; sons, Donald F. (Cathy) and Douglas G. (Shannon) Dunlap; step children, Marie Elizabeth Burke, Caroline Lanier Burke, James G. Burke, III and Barney Burke; 13 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Monday, June 27, 2011 at 10:00 AM in the chapel of Carey Hand Cox-Parker Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Palm Cemetery. Friends may visit the funeral home on Sunday from 6-8 PM. Donations may be made to the American Lung Association or American Heart Association.
