Eugene Andrew Galvin

Eugene A. Galvin, 85, died Sept 5, 2014. Gene was born in Feb 27, 1929, in Norfolk, VA, to the late James Aloysius & Kathryn (Hancock) Galvin. In 1972, Capt. Galvin retired in Winter Park, FL, after serving his country for 27 years in the US Marines Corps. He served as Deputy Comptroller for Orange County, FL, and retired in 1985. Gene was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, & friend. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 65 years, Elena Molinaro Galvin; children Gail (Phil) Oakes of Homosassa, Mark (Susan) Galvin of Winter Springs; Tony (Janet) Galvin of Winter Park; Jeanne (Thomas) Christ of Weston; grandchildren Stephanie, Sarah, Galvin, Zachary, Jacob, Olivia, Courtney, Michelle. Siblings include Martha Jane Ashley (Norfolk, VA), Corrine & Harry Geraty (Lexington Park, MD), John Galvin (Virginia Beach, VA). Predeceased in death by son, Michael T. Galvin; siblings Maryanne Todd, Joan Adams, and James Galvin. Gene moved from Ventura County Club to Homosassa, FL. A tribute and celebration of Gene’s life will be at 3 PM, Sept 13, 2014, at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home, 7520 Aloma Avenue in Winter Park, FL. Inurnment will be at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors at a later date.
