

Felix (nickname: Feli) was born in Añasco, Puerto Rico on July 2, 1923. Julia Iñigo Goyco, his mother, was 12 years old and a citizen of Spain at the time that Puerto Rico became a US possession. He grew up in Añasco and Lares. He graduated from high school and was called up to serve in the US Army during World War II.
Feli graduated as a Civil Engineer from the College of Agricultural, Arts, and Mechanics (CAAM) in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, where he met his future wife, Iraida Ferrer Padilla, at the bookstore. Feli and Iraida were married on April 16, 1951.
Felix Antonio (nickname: Papeye) was born in 1953 and Maria Lillian was born in 1955. Jorge was born in 1957. Marta Virginia was born in 1961 and Emigdio was born in 1967. As part of his career path, Feli worked on the building of the interstate highways in the Houston, TX area. He also had his own successful land surveying business, which had as many as 3 architects working for him. He was a civilian employee of the US Navy in Ceiba, Puerto Rico. He then worked for HUD in Saint Louis from which he retired. He had a passion for family, traveling, history, science, and mathematics. Upon his retirement, Feli and Iraida moved to Winter Springs, FL, where Jorge was already living. Soon after, they were joined by Marta. Iraida passed away in 2006. At that time they had been married for 55 years, after dating for 3 years before getting married. Feli attended Mass, received the Eucharist, went to confession, and received the other Sacraments. Being a Catholic Christian was very important to him, and he frequently communicated his faith to his family and those who knew him. He was part of the Opus Dei lay group in Puerto Rico.
He is lovingly remembered for his faith and heartfelt love for his family and friends. Feli is survived by his children: Felix Lopez (Joan), Lillian Rodriguez (Aníbal), Jorge Lopez (Aida), Marta Lopez (Daniel), and Emigdio Lopez-Sanders (Lori), as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A public visitation for Felix will be held Tuesday, May 6, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home, 7520 Aloma Ave Winter Park, FL 32792. A funeral Mass will occur Tuesday, May 6, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 861 Maitland Ave, Altamonte Springs, FL 32701. A graveside service with military honors will occur Tuesday, May 6, 2025 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Glen Haven Memorial Park, 2300 Temple Dr, Winter Park, FL 32789. A catered reception will occur Tuesday, May 6, 2025 from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM, 7520 Aloma Ave, Winter Park, FL 32792.
