Florine Strickland Winbon

Florine Strickland Winbon, 86, of Orlando, FL died on Thursday, Nov, 2012. She was born in Cherry Grove, North Carolina on Aug 5, 1926. She grew up in Cherry Grove and attended Peace College. She married Zackery Robert “Bob” Winbon, Jr. in 1949 in the Cherry Grove Baptist Church and moved with him to Florida. Florine was a faithful member of College Park Baptist Church in Orlando for more than 50 years, where she taught children’s Sunday School and played piano for their classes. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Florine was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers, beloved husband Bob, and granddaughter Sara Frances West. She is survived by her children Gail Jacobus (Dacula, GA), Lynn Winbon (Lake Mary, FL), and Teresa West (Dunedin, FL); brother Beasley Strickland (Cherry Grove, NC); sister Pheatres Strickland Thigpen (Fair Bluff, NC); 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Sunday, Nov 4th from 5-6:30 pm at Carey Hand Cox-Parker Funeral Home, Winter Park. A memorial service will be held at College Park Baptist Church on Monday, Nov 5th at 2 pm followed by a graveside service at Woodlawn.
