Frances Wilson, 94, of Winter Park, Florida passed away August 28, 2021. She was born in Thurber, Texas to Velma Ruth Henley Beasley and George Madison. Beasley. After her mother’s death when she was very young, she and her brothers Robert and Thomas resided in Strawn, Texas where they were raised by their grandmother Hattie Mae Beasley along with her eight children. She went to the local schools in Strawn and graduated from Strawn High School. After graduating she worked at a Texas radio station. She met and married Herbert E. Wilson and together lived in Japan where he was stationed with the United States Air Force. Following that duty station he was transferred to Orlando Air Force Base. They decided to retire in Orlando where they have called home since 1957.
Fran was tough, inquisitive and creative. She loved to learn about many things and was always up for an adventure. She traveled and always wanted to see more of the world. She was a magnificent self taught seamstress, a lover of music, especially the classics, and art. She had an ability to think out of the box and had a natural curiosity about all things. She was fiercely independent and she had a strong memory and command of the English language.
Her husband Herbert, brothers Robert and Thomas predeceased her. She is survived by her son Scott, daughter Cynthia as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Family was very important to her and maintained a strong bond with her cousin Jim Burton whom she considered another brother. Not wanting anyone to fuss over her, she would encourage us all to remember the poet Robert Frost’s words about life – “It goes on“.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to your church or a local food bank.
