April 6, 1944 – November 12, 2010
It is with breaking hearts that we share with you that our wonderful Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Friend lost her long and valiant fight to cancer on Friday, November 12th at her home. The miracle for a cure on earth did not happen… but the one in heaven did. God was merciful. She passed away quickly, pain free and peacefully with her husband of 46 years, Douglas, by her side.
Georgia was born in Portsmouth, NH to Mary (Chestnut) and Edward Hibler. She grew up in West Paris, Maine and was crowned Miss West Paris in 1961. In 1964 she married Douglas and they resided in Binghamton, NY, where they both worked for the Kroehler Manufacturing Company. They relocated to Florida in 1974 where they raised their family. Georgia spent 35 years with Bell South culminating her career as a Call Center Manager in Orlando, FL. She was a member of LifeSong Church and participated in many different ministries.
Georgia’s greatest joys in life were her family, cooking, her garden and her faith. She loved unconditionally and was always focused on others. Her courage was an inspiration to all who knew her. She leaves behind her sons Richard (wife Carol) and Stephen (Christy); sisters Jean (Richard) and Virginia (Nelson); grandchildren, Matthew, Megan and Nathaniel; cousins, Stanley (Margaret) and Richard (Carol); mother-in-law, Dorothy Hull; sister-in-law, Brenda Goodstal; and numerous special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that she adored.
She was predeceased by her parents Mary and Edward Hibler.
A celebration of this amazing woman’s life will be held on Saturday, November 20th at 11:00 AM at University Carillon United Methodist Church in Oviedo, FL, with Pastors Lyndol Loyd and Joe MacLaren presiding.
Arrangements are being handled through Carey Hand Cox-Parker Funeral home in Winter Park, FL.
Donations in Georgia’s name can be made to Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation (https://www.minniepearl.org/get_involved/). A Special thank you to all of you who walked this long journey with us. She cherished your prayers, calls, cards and acts of kindness.
Courage, Grace and Laughter
