
COLLETT, GLENN WILSON, age 73, of Casselberry, FL peacefully passed away on November 17, 2014. Glenn was born in Cleveland, TN on June 22, 1941 to French and Lela Collett. The family moved to Kingston, TN in 1955, where he graduated from Roane County High School in 1959. During his senior year Glenn was voted “Most Courteous Male” by his peers. Glenn attended college at Tennessee Wesleyan, Tennessee Tech and The University of Tennessee. He received his Bachelors Degree in Business Management.
Glenn served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1969. He was deployed to Pusan Korea (KMAG) where he served from 1967-1969 and was honorably discharged as a Specialist 5. During his time in service, Glenn received the Soldier of the Month award for his Detachment. Later he competed against members of all units of the Korean Military Advisory Group, and won this award as well.
In 1970, Glenn moved to Florida and worked for the United States Postal Service in Altamonte Springs for 28 years until retirement. Glenn later became employed by Sheriff Donald Eslinger of the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, as a Field Service Officer in 1993. He served as an F.S.O. for eight years before retiring in 2001. All three public service careers suited him well, being a man of honor and great values.
Glenn was an avid sports enthusiast, both in participation and as a fan. He especially enjoyed football, basketball, and NASCAR. His favorite team was the Tennessee Volunteers, and would often be heard saying, “Go Vols!” Glenn also enjoyed reading and meeting new people.
Glenn will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 37 years, Carolyn Collett; his dearly loved daughters, Michelle Trahan and Kimberly Roberts; his 5 special grandchildren-Catherine and Jennifer Fields, Jarett, Christina and Clayton Roberts all of Casselberry; and by his much-loved sister, Deborah Collett of Debary, FL. Also mourning the loss of Glenn will be several beloved nephews and nieces, cousins and many special friends.
Glenn Collett was predeceased by his father and mother, French and Lela Collett, his brother Lynn Griffin Collett, and nephew, David Clayton Collett.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 12th from 4:00-6:00PM at Baldwin Fairchild Goldenrod Chapel, 7520 Aloma Ave., Winter Park, FL. Memorial Services will be held Saturday, December 13th at 10:30AM at Winter Park Presbyterian Church, 400 S. Lakemont Ave., Winter Park. Immediately following the memorial services there will be a military service at Glen Haven Memorial Park, 2300 Temple Dr., Winter Park, FL.
The family invites you to rejoin them at Winter Park Presbyterian Church for a reception and a Celebration of Glenn W. Collett’s life. In lieu of flowers, Glenn’s wishes were that any memorial contributions be made to Winter Park Presbyterian Church. Please specify “In memory of Glenn Collett”.
