Jeanine Anne Marie Mayard Pierrot, a beloved mother, wife, sister, and aunt, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2024, at the age of 87. Jeanine's life was a testament to resilience, grace, and unwavering faith. Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, she was a pillar of strength and compassion, always ready to lend a helping hand or a kind word. Her nurturing spirit and deep love for her family and singing hymns will be dearly missed. Jeanine's legacy of love and faith will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
She was the youngest of her siblings: Muguette, Edest, Reynold, and Laurette. Her only surviving sibling is Laurette Mayard McNeil. By the time she was five years old, Jeanine was orphaned and raised in a convent alongside her siblings. Her relationship with her older sisters, especially Muguette, became akin to that of a mother and daughter due to these early life circumstances.
On July 23, 1961, Jeanine emigrated from Haiti to Connecticut, and with determination and hard work, she secured employment with Chase Bank and moved to New York. Her resilience and dedication did not stop there; she and Laurette worked tirelessly to bring their other siblings to the United States, ensuring they could all build better lives together.
In 1967, one of her best friends Ermene Mathurin married her brother Edest Mayard, and they had a son Alain Mayard. Jeanine considered becoming a nun, but God had other plans. She met the love of her life and after only four months of dating, she married George Paul Pierrot on December 27, 1969.
Jeanine embraced her new role as a wife and became a devoted mother to Philip Henry Pierrot and Indira Michelle Pierrot. Edest and Ermene, along with George and Jeanine, decided to co-parent all three children: Alain, Philip, and Indira. The children's time was lovingly split between both households, creating a close-knit family with both sets of parents. This is just one example of many where Jeanine’s devotion to her family was unwavering, and she poured her love and care into creating a warm and nurturing home for her husband and children.
In 1980, Jeanine graduated from the Jewish Hospital & Medical Center School of Nursing as a registered nurse. She worked the night shift in the labor and delivery unit of St. John's Episcopal Hospital in Far Rockaway for many years before moving to Central Florida in the summer of 1992.
Jeanine had a passion for cooking, baking cakes, and dancing. She loved attending mass and singing hymns, with "How Great Thou Art" being her favorite. Jeanine was also known for her exceptional hosting and entertaining skills; her summer barbecues and holiday meals were truly legendary and brought joy to many. This love of cooking and hosting is something both Philip and Indira continue to do, with them taking over and cooking Thanksgiving dinner together every year.
Jeanine is survived by her loving husband, George Paul Pierrot; her children, Philip Henry Pierrot and Indira Michelle Pierrot; her bonus son/nephew Alain Mayard; her stepson Gary Christopher; her sister Laurette Mayard McNeil; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was predeceased by her siblings Edest Mayard, Reynold Mayard, and Muguette Mayard Cuvilly; her niece Donna McNeil; and her nephew Patrick Cuvilly.
A memorial service to honor Jeanine’s life will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024 at 10:30 at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church of Winter Park.
Jeanine’s life was marked by her deep faith, boundless love, and unwavering strength. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
