

John “Herman” Long, a long-time resident of Winter Park and Maitland, Fl. went to live with his Lord on Friday, February 9, 2018. Herman was born in Phenix City, Alabama in 1928 to Mr. and Mrs. Jesse and Eddie Mae Long. Herman was married for 59 years to the love of his life Carolyn P. Long. He was a loving husband, an awesome father, a Godly man, a good friend, and a humble fisherman.
Herman was employed with Nabisco for 37 years. He was proud to serve as operations manager in Orlando until he retired in 1990. Herman served in the U.S. Army. He was actively involved in Asbury United Methodist Church for as long as his health would allow. His passion for fishing was contagious and profound. He loved to escape to the lake with many wonderful friends as often as he could. He cherished his friends as if the were his brothers and sisters. Herman is preceded in death by his wife Carolyn P. Long who went to live with her Lord on February 10, 2013, his parents, his brother Alfred Long, and sisters Dora Dell Barnes and Eunice Adams. Herman is survived by his loving son Alan, and his wife Amy, and many wonderful cousins, nieces, and nephews. Herman’s family is thankful for the care and kindness provided to him by his physicians and surgeons, Florida Hospital Altamonte Springs and Orlando, Tuskawilla Nursing and Rehab, Winter Springs, Fl. and The Mayflower, Winter Park, Fl. A memorial service will be held at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home, Winter Park, Fl., on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 9:30 A.M. Please feel free to wear your best fishing attire or dress casually.
