John H Rickelman, 85, Winter Park, FL passed away February 5, 2022. He attended Marquette University on a basketball scholarship then was accepted to the Naval Academy. Married Donna I. Rickelman in September 1961 and lived in Charleston, SC, Norfolk VA, Monterey CA, San Diego CA, Virginia Beach VA, and Newport RI. Upon retiring from the Navy the family moved to Winter Park, FL in 1980. He actively volunteered as a driver for Chicken Soup and ITN supporting senior needs. An engineer and electronics geek, he loved airshows, space flight, and building things. He loved musicals too! 😊 He was a longtime member of St. Margaret Mary Church, Winter Park, FL. A devoted husband, he passed on a spirit of caring for the community and love of family. He will be deeply missed. He leaves three children: Catherine, Atlanta GA, Mary Cameron, Winter Park FL, John Jr. Quincy IL and two grand-daughters Alana and Jenna, St. Louis, MO. The funeral service will be at St. Margaret Mary Church, Park Ave. Winter Park FL on Friday February 18, 2022 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Margaret Mary School, Habitat for Humanity, or 2nd Harvest Food Bank.
