Kim Bowden Cabalfin

Kim Monique Bowden Cabalfin, 66, of Winter Park, Florida, a beloved mother, wife, and friend passed away peacefully on November 18, 2023 after a year long battle with metastatic pancreatic cancer. Kim had an unbreakable spirit throughout her cancer journey and we will forever be in awe of her courage and strength.

Kim was born in Miami, Oklahoma, in 1957 and was raised in Cocoa, Florida. Kim graduated from the University of Alabama in Huntsville and later received her master’s degree from the University of Florida. Kim began her nursing career in NICU which cemented her passion of working with children. After having children of her own she devoted her time to being a stay at home mom and blessed her children with a magical childhood. Throughout this time Kim traveled with her family as a Navy wife living in Asia, Europe, and throughout the United States. Kim was passionate about serving those less fortunate and working with under served communities. She worked as a pediatric nurse practitioner for 17 years at a clinic that offered free health care services to the uninsured.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years LCDR Cesar Cabalfin and her daughters Amanda Johansen (Eric Johansen), Melou Busby (Landon Busby), and son Joe Cabalfin. She also leaves behind sisters Brenda Lopez (Tony Lopez) and Laura Panatera, as well as stepmother Margaret Bowden. She was preceded in death by her beloved papa Joe Johns, her mother Golda Johns, and father Kenneth Bowden.

A quietly hilarious person, Kim had the best laugh and a smile that lit up a room. Kim made her family laugh constantly with her dry wit and quirky sense of humor. Above all she loved her family and was a devoted wife and mother until the end. The hole she leaves behind in her family's lives feels immeasurably large. Through Kim's deep faith we are secure in knowing that she will be reunited with her loved ones and her Creator.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 24,2023 at 10:30 am. Glen Haven Memorial Park.
