

Born in Rocky Mount, North Carolina on September 12, 1934, she was always a “Tar Heel” at heart. She graduated from Rex Hospital School of Nursing. She was a “diploma” nurse who was devoted to caring for her patients and friends. For many years, she ran the Rockingham Circle neighborhood emergency clinic from her living room. She was a faithful member of College Park Baptist Church, now known as Church on the Drive, for 64 years, where she served to the best of her calling.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, David Van Gurley who was called home in 2002 to be with his Lord and Savior.
She is survived by her children, John Van Gurley (Kim) and Nancy Gurley Korfhage (Jason) and her grandchildren, Kyle, Kevin, and Nathan Gurley and Claire and Abram Korfhage.
She will be greatly missed by all those she touched over many years.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes any memorial contributions be made to the Senior Adult Ministry at Church on the Drive (https://churchonthedrive.org/give, under “Fund” select Senior Adult Ministry and note that this donation is in memory of Mary Gurley).
The family will receive friends from 2-4 pm and from 6-8 pm on Friday, March 18, 2022 at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home, 90 Weathersfield Avenue, Altamonte Springs, Florida 32714.
A celebration of life service for Mary will be held Saturday, March 19, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Church on the Drive, 1914 Edgewater Drive, Orlando, FL 32804. Prior to the celebration of life service, the family invites friends to join them for lunch and a fellowship of remembrance from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM, also at the church. Following the celebration of life service will be an inurnment from 3:00 PM at Highland Memory Garden, 3329 E Semoran Blvd., Apopka, FL 32703
