With heavy hearts and deep love, we remember Agnes Reno Thompson – a beautiful soul whose laughter, warmth and unwavering love touched all who knew her. She walked through life with a spirited heart, embracing family, music and memories that will never fade.
Agnes was predeceased by her beloved mother Gail Thompson Walker; grandmother Kathrine Jack Walker and grandfather Charlie Ryder. She also joins in the spirit world her great-grandparents Maggie Jack and Dennis Walker, brothers Alvin Thompson and Dallon Thompson, sister Nellie Thompson. On her paternal side, Agnes was the daughter of William Saulteaux, granddaughter of Agnes Eashappie McKay Saulteaux and great-granddaughter of Lena Kennedy and Hector Eashappie. She was also predeceased by her foster parents Michael and Gladys Boyko; foster siblings: Muriel Buchan, Patricia Mass and Garry and foster sister-in-law Lorraine Boyko. Reno leaves behind many cherished memories with her foster family, family and friends.
Agnes is survived by Cleo (partner), cherished birth siblings from Carry the Kettle: Raylene Thompson, Donelda Thompson (Errol Hotomanie), William Miller, Nathan Thompson, Eldeen Thompson, Ronette Thompson (Tony Phillips) and Rechelle Thompson (Elvin Cappo), along with many nieces and nephews who adored her deeply. She is also survived by brothers: Wayne (Marilyn), Kelley (Crystal) and Perry and sisters: Margaret, Maryann, Marilyn (Gary), Rosalind, Sonya, Sharon and Leslie, and special cousin Christina Prettyshield.
Though born in Wolseley, Reno was raised in Regina by the Boyko family. From a young age, she brought joy and laughter to every room she entered. She loved her 80s music, often found with her red Walkman as she delivered papers in North Central. Her favourite moments were the simple ones – Saturday mornings gathered around the kitchen table with siblings and cousins, watching cartoons while sipping chocolate milk and eating toast or walking to the corner MAC’s store to grab a slurpee with her sisters.
In her final days, she lived in Calgary, Alberta. It was here that her love of Reggae music began. Her heart was so full of love and a legacy of connection, humour and family.
Agnes Reno Thompson will always be remembered for her vibrant spirit, her unforgettable laugh and the way she made everyone feel like family. May her journey into the spirit world be surrounded by peace and those who went before her.
Forever in our hearts.
