Updated: In response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) developments and increased government restrictions on public gatherings and after much discussion we, Brad's family, have decided to postpone funeral services for Brad Linnen previously scheduled on April 11, 2020 in McLean, SK.
The health and safety of Brad's family and friends was very important to him, and we know that he would not want to put anyone in jeopardy. We will continue to monitor the progress of the virus and reassess rescheduling options as the frequency of new cases dissipates.
Thank you for your understanding and support. We are sorry for any inconvenience and upset this may cause. Take care of each other.
It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Brad, who passed away peacefully in the early hours of March 4, 2020.
He was predeceased by his parents, Cliff and Diana Linnen; brother-in-law, Doug Hobson; and good friend, Dave Marshall.
Brad will be dearly missed by his wife of 19 years, Stacy; children Kim (Dustin) Himour, Chris Linnen(Breanna Gillespie), Emily and Bridget Linnen; granddaughter Kayleigh; sisters Christine (Rob) Roflik and Jennifer (Wayne) Patterson; mother and father in-law, Judith and Barry Hobson; sister-in-law Siobhan (Chris) Brown; aunts and uncles; nieces and nephews; cousins and extended family, as well as his many friends.
Brad followed in his father’s footsteps working in sales, finding a passion in appliances. He enjoyed connecting with people, and his customers’ happiness was always his first priority. On his days off, you could usually find Brad on the golf course for a quick round or sitting at a favourite fishing spot, casting from shore. His favourite time of year was the few weeks in summer when he loaded up his kayak and ventured to Minnesota with his son to spend lazy days floating on a river, soaking up the beauty of nature and (if he was lucky) enjoying the catch of the day for supper. During the last year of his life, Brad bravely battled cancer, enduring surgery as well as radiation and immunotherapy treatments. Not once was he angry or resentful about his circumstances, choosing instead to reflect on memories and enjoy the time
he had left with his family. Brad saw every day as a blessing. We will all miss hearing Brad scream “Ya baby!” to the TV during an Oiler game, along with his quirky sense of humour and the way he laughed so hard at his own jokes he was often unable to finish the punch line. We are sure that Brad and his dad are enjoying every sunset, and he and Dave are walking the back nine.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to are welcomed to make a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society 1910 McIntyre Street, Regina, SK S4P 2R3.
We would also like to thank all our friends and family who have supported us through this journey, as well as both the staff at Indian Head Union Hospital and Lakeside Nursing Home in Wolseley for laughing at all Brad’s jokes and taking such good care of him over the last few months.
