Darrell was born on February 14, 1966 and passed away on November 4, 2025 at the age of 59 years.

Darrell was an amazing & kind person - witty, intelligent and wise beyond his years. Darrell dedicated his life to teaching, having taught multiple grade levels across Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario. Darrell was a talented artist and created resources with Indigenous content when none were available. He wrote a children’s series about an Indigenous boy named Alfred and students saw themselves in the books and materials he created. Earlier in life, Darrell worked as a cartoonist for the Moose Jaw newspaper.

Darrell loved his wife of 12 years, Kathy and his beloved dog Darwinnie. He treasured his family - his mother Helen, brother Knowlton, sisters Dianne (Shawn) and Sandi. He enjoyed visits with his niece Kam and his nephews Andy and Mick while keeping in touch with Randy through facebook.

Darrell saw the beauty in a spring morning and in a crisp winter evening. He loved the outdoors including all animals and plants.

Darrell was loved dearly & will be greatly missed.

A wake will be held in Cowessess Community Hall, Cowessess First Nation on Thursday, November 6, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. The funeral service will take place in the same location on Friday, November 7, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Elder Allan Delorme. The interment will follow in the Cowessess Cemetery.
