Gail was born on November 4, 1940, on the farm near Windthorst, SK. Gail grew up on the farm and attended the Coronation School, a country schoolhouse two miles away. She was a member of the 4-H club for many years growing up. In 1957, the family moved to Glenavon so her father could run the Red & White store. It was here that Gail met her husband Jim in 1959 and they were married Nov 7, 1959. They first moved to Regina where Gail worked at the Army and Navy Mail order house. They then settled in Glenavon, SK where they welcomed Darwin in 1960, Garry in 1961, and Melinda in 1966. Gail continued with the 4-H club and was a leader for over 20 years. The family briefly moved to Stoughton in 1978 but soon returned to Glenavon where they settled in the home they moved on to their lots on the south side of town.
Gail was a member of the ladies curling club, was on the rink board for a number of years, was on the library board, and helped with the crafts at the fair. She worked at the Coop in Glenavon for a number of years before retiring. Gail always kept a beautiful yard and won an award in 1995 for Best Kept Urban Premises. Gail was an avid crafter, sewer, and knitter. We all cherish our blue jean blankets that Grandma made.
The family would like to express our deepest gratitude to the staff at New Hope Pioneer Home in Stoughton and to the staff and doctors at the Arcola Hospital and General Hospital, for their compassionate care of mom in her final days.
