

It is with profound sadness that we announce that our mother, abuelita and tia has begun her journey home. Graciela Belmar “Chelita”, was a courageous and devoted Matriarch and a selfless woman who dedicated her life to nurturing and caring for those around her.
She was predeceased by her father Domingo and mother Graciela; brother Jorge and granddaughters Christina and Marisol.
Graciela is survived by her sister Monica; children: Rosario (Christian), Julio (Val), Paola (Perry) and Rodrigo (Sherry); her grandchildren: Christopher, Alex, Victoria (Roman), Exyquiel (Liz), Sergio (Desirèe), Gabriela (Jordan), Paloma, Elianna, Leila, Sandra, Jordon, Vicki, Danielle, Montana, Dustin, Miranda, Erika, Vanessa and Camilo; great-grandchildren: Nina, Mila, Dengo, Zaina, Marcelo, Nachi, Lorenzo, Arielle and Azareus and many others; extended family Angie and the Barahona family that took her as their own mother, tia and grandmother; nieces and nephews and other family members and friends.
Graciela was a pillar of strength in her community, exiled from Chile in 1976. She was always willing to lend a helping hand, offer a listening ear and advocate for those in need. One of the original founders of the Folkloric Dance group in Winnipeg, “Chile Lucha Y Canta”. Graciela’s generosity, compassion and wisdom touched the lives of countless individuals and her legacy will continue to inspire future generations.
The wake took place on Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Tubman Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life took place on Sunday, February 2, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Tubman Funeral Home with officiant, Knowledge Keeper Cliff Thomson.
