Irene Margaret Brown

Irene was predeceased by her parents William and Marion Grainger; mother and father-in-law Lindsey and Margaret Brown; husband Edwin; son James; her son-in-law Don Martz; granddaughter Jamie Ottenbreit; sister Grace Strickland (Arthur) and brothers-in-law: Edmund Hoskins, Robert Barr, Keith Shipley, Floyd Brown (Erma) and Douglas Brown.

She will be lovingly remembered by her six children: Cheryl Warder (Keith), Debbie Johnson (Glen), Carol Martz, Jo-Ann Ottenbreit (Peter), Patti Tkachuk (Tristan) and Darren Brown (Tiffany); her 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; her two sisters Bernice Hoskins and Jean Barr; her sister-in-law Shirley Shipley; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Irene spent most of her life in the town of Broadview, where she worked and raised her seven beautiful children. Irene worked at the Broadview Creamery, Broadview Hardware and at the Broadview Centennial Lodge. She began working as a care aid at the Lodge when it opened until she retired at 65 and returned to their care for the last 10 months she was with us. She was always sharp, joking and chatting with her many visitors. She enjoyed playing games and cards, always for money. She felt lucky and honored to spend her time with her family.

Irene always took pride in how she looked, often wearing a variety of pinks and purples, making sure her earrings always matched her outfits.

Irene loved unconditionally and nurtured in any way that she could. Bringing her delicious pies, cookies and baking to any family gathering. She enjoyed watching curling and favorite sports teams, the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the Edmonton Oilers. She loved her coffee visits with friends and family. She enjoyed watching the birds, admiring her flowers and especially spending time with her family at the lake.

Irene was a loving wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma and a cherished friend. Irene wanted to be remembered for "just being me". We will hold her in our hearts and remember her always.

Irene's celebration of life will be held in the Broadview Community Hall on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 2:00 p.m.with Pastor Abe Driedger officiating. A private interment will be held.
