On Monday, June 17, 2013, Jean Louise Peter of Grenfell, Sk., died at the age of 59 years. The funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Columbkille Roman Catholic Church, Grenfell, SK., on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. by Father George Thattuparampil with interment in the Grenfell Cemetery. Jean Richardson was born in Broadview, SK growing up on the family farm north of town. She attended Broadview School. On November 17, 1973 she married Philip Peter. They made their home in Regina and after 1981 in Grenfell. Gardening and canning kept her happily occupied and her family well fed. Camping and travelling were times she looked forward to. She quilted with a group of friends at church and to fill in the time she knitted at home. She was an avid member of TOPS, keeping in shape power walking, swimming and cross country skiing. We always knew that she would have some baking for coffee or dessert – loved those butter tarts and jam filled “boats.” Somewhere along the way the ladybug became her trademark and she collected replicas wherever she travelled - was she thrilled to see them imbedded in the sidewalk in Rotterdam! Jean was very proud of each of her grandchildren and was especially pleased when a granddaughter joined the boys. Jean’s light shone on everyone she met and she is missed. Jean was predeceased in 1974 by an infant son Craig Joseph Peter. Mourning her passing are her parents, Madeline (Madge) and Thomas (Tom) Richardson; her husband, Phil; and their children, Tanya (Harry) Wilkins: Darren and Avery, Tammy (Tushar) Patel: Nixon and Kavita, Tim (Annemarie) Peter: Rhys; her sisters, Sandy (Ken) Christie: Kyla (Collin) Nuttall – Hailey, Cierra and Alyssa, Tara (Derek) Helgason – Connor and Parker; Robyn (Brendan) Obrowsky, Patrick (friend Chantel) Christie – Myia; Wendy (Chris) Schmaltz; Sharon (Terry) Strueby – Adam, Erin and Jeffrey; and her brother, Gary Richardson. The Peter family also mourns the loss of a dear sister-in-law and special aunt.
If friends so desire contributions to the Save the Pool Fund, c/o the Town of Grenfell, Box 1120, Grenfell, SK., S0G 2B0 may be tokens of remembrance. Arrangements in care of Tubman Cremation and Funeral Services. Wolseley
