Lester was born in Regina on May 27th, 1934. He played baseball at Moffat, in his younger years and that’s where he met the love of his life, Anne Petrychyn. They were married on September 22, 1959.
Lester loved the farm and enjoyed being out in the field and he also enjoyed doing his Cat work. He always had a love for music and had the ability to play many instruments by ear. Guitar, violin, mandolin, banjo, organ, accordion and harmonica to name a few. He never took a lesson, he could just sit down and play. He loved socializing and could make conversation with anyone and always had this undying warm presence that made him easy to open up to. He also had a love of history, and told stories of the ‘good ole days’. He wasn’t fond of change, because he loved the way people lived in his day. But despite all the changes the world went through, good and bad, he never lost the innocence he had that made him always display kindness, openness, and trust in everyone he ever met, whether they were an old friend, or a complete stranger. Your status, struggles, job title, how much money you made, none of it mattered to him, all that mattered to him was that you were an amazing human being and were treated as such whether you were the highest or lowest by society’s standards, you deserved to be proud of who you were as a person, just as he was of himself and his family. Though he went through many struggles in his life he always remained light hearted, humorous, happy and without fail always provided a laugh when necessary. He always gave a friendly smile and had a joyous laugh. He truly had a heart of gold, which was evident, by the love he showed towards his family and friends. His children and grandchildren meant the world to him and was always wanting them to come to the farm and visit. He will be dearly missed.
He was predeceased by his mother, Nellie Shaw (nee Stringer), his stepfather, Robert Shaw and his grandson, Journey Domokos in infancy in 2012.
Lester is survived by his loving wife Anne and their children and grandchildren.
