

On Saturday, March 2, 2013, Madeline Dorothy Wood, widow of Fred Wood, Corning, SK., passed away at the Montmartre Health Center, just a couple of months shy of her 92nd birthday. A public graveside service will be held at the Graytown Cemetery, Corning, SK., on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at 1:00 p.m., with Lynette Callfas officiating. A social gathering will follow this service at the Corning Community Hall. Predeceased by her husband Fred in 2001, brother, Louis Pilgrim, two sisters, Emma Johnson and Florence Lasuta. Mrs. Wood is survived by her three sons and one daughter, Clifford (Marlene) Wood, Corning, SK.; Ken (Gayle) Wood, Corning, SK., Ralph (Joan) Wood, Kitimat, BC., and Dorothy (Ron) Halbgewachs, Regina, SK., nine grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren, one sister, Lucy Stewart, Red Deer, AB.; brothers-in-law, Charlie (Jean) Wood, Calgary, AB.; and Mike Lasuta, BC., as well as her nieces and nephews. Madeline was born May 9, 1921 to Fred and Sophie Pilgrim of Pelly, SK. Madeline was a hardworking farmer’s wife in the community of Corning, she was an active member of the Legion Auxillary and avid curler. She enjoyed knitting, baking and spending time with her grandchildren. In lieu of flowers if friends so desire contributions to the Canadian Alzheimer Society or to Graytown Cemetery may be tokens of remembrance.
