

On Friday, April 29, 2011 Marion Jeanice Lyster, beloved wife of Donald Lyster, Abernethy, SK and late of Calgary, AB died, surrounded by the love of her family, at the Peter Lougheed Hospital in Calgary, AB at the age of 91 years. She was born at Bonniemeade Farm in the Rosedale district of S.E. Sask where she grew up and attended school. She started Normal School in Regina in 1937 and then began a teaching career that deeply touched the lives of countless children and spanned the years until 1979. She married Don Lyster in 1946 and moved to the home farm in the Kenlis district where they raised their family. They moved to Abernethy in 1997 and then to Calgary in 2010. Marion was actively involved in the Kenlis and Knox United Churches and many other community organizations. She will be lovingly remembered by Don, her husband of nearly 65 years, her large extended family and countless friends and relatives. Marion was loved by all who knew her. Her mild manner, gentle ways and steadfast determination will long be remembered. She is predeceased by her parents, Robert and Ethel Lewis, two sisters, Alda and Norma Lewis and brother Clark Lewis. Marion is survived by husband Don, two sons and two daughters: Bryan (Pat) Lyster, Abernethy, SK., Donna (Ken) Pederson, Sharon (Brent) Smith and Lyall (Miche) Lyster all of Calgary, AB., her grandchildren Shannon (Maen) Saleh, Sara (Rick) Kreklewich, David (Corinna) Smith, Dan and Jenny Smith, Michael and Aaron Pederson and Shaun and Ben Lyster, her great-grandchildren, Aidan and Noah Saleh and Kailey Kreklewich. In the past year the staff at Monterey Place in Calgary helped Don and Marion feel loved and welcome in their new home. During her final days Marion received compassionate care from the doctors and staff – Unit 51, Peter Lougheed Hospital.
