STILL – Rodney (Roddy) Stewart Still was called home Thursday, January 9, 2014, to be with his parents Solomon and Ruth in the spirit world. Rodney was born April 22, 1957, on Ochapowace First Nation and passed away peacefully at home on Ochapowace First Nation. Rodney is predeceased by his parents Solomon and Ruth Still, sister Charlotte, brothers Michael and Gerald in infancy, aunts Agnes Still, Lillian Littlechief (Dawson), Marybelle Allary (Alex), Jesse Kennedy (Ralph), Gladys George (Ernest), Uncles Peter Still (Laura), Micheal Still, Ernest Still, Ivan Watson (Jeannette), Sam Watson, Fred Lessing, grandparents Peter and Sadie Watson and Joseph and Mary Still. He is survived by his son, Roderick Martell (Danielle) and his grandchildren Zoey, Roderick Jr. and Drake; his sisters Shirley and Marion D. Still and his brothers Delbert (Sharon), Eugene (Elizabeth), Leonard (Cheryl C.), John (Colleen), Aunts Mary Lessing, Mrs. Marion Still, Kathleen Watson, Uncle Edward Still; and many nieces, nephews, cousins. Rodney also thought dearly of Auntie Gracie Bear who was very special to him. Rodney will be greatly missed by the whole community of Ochapowace as he was our HERO. He was awarded for his act of bravery in saving three children from a house fire March 11, 1993, in which he suffered third degree burns. Rodney was loved by everyone and will be sadly missed by all who had picked him up, given him rides, shared a cigarette, shared a good story, many jokes and laughs. Rodney was a very humble man who never complained of his pain and injuries. He took pride in caring for the main roads and making sure the road was safe for the drivers. The Still family would like to thank everyone who cared for Rodney and showed him love during his lifetime and thank everyone for their support in the celebration of his life. Special thanks to all his friends and the people who shared a little mi ni kwe with Roddy. Services will be held at Kakisiwew School on Ochapowace First Nation; Wake on Sunday, January 12, 2014, at 4:00 p.m. A traditional feast will be held Monday, January 13, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. with a traditional funeral conducted by community Elders at 2:00 p.m. Interment at Ochapowace cemetery.
