The funeral service was held in the Windthorst Community Centre on September 10, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Gerald Bruce Andersen officiating. Interment in the Windthorst Cemetery.
Ruth was born in the Coronation district and grew up during the depression of the 1930s. Her experiences with the poverty she saw and experienced as a young child and teenager affected her profoundly. She became a staunch supporter of the CCF/NDP as a young woman, and remained a dedicated, progressive member throughout her life.
Ruth was active and energetic and interested in many things. Her family was the centre of her world. She contributed to her community and she loved to garden, sing, paint, read and knit. But her greatest passion was for the well-being of others, and that is something that she kept to the end of her life.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband and life-long partner Walter, and by her brother Bill and sisters Katie and Elda.
She leaves behind to celebrate her life her devoted sons Graham (Mariko) and Rod, her loving daughter Sylvia, her very dear grandsons John (Claire) and Alex; her God-daughter Karyn; her sister and brother-in-law Erna and Hal Zinn; her sister-in-law Irene Pusch; many nieces and nephews who she appreciated; and her friends in the Windthorst and Kipling community.
