William was born in the Western part of the Ukraine in the district of Yaroviw near Lviv. In July 1928, at the age of three, he immigrated to Canada with his parents and baby sister Eunice. William also served on the executive as president and secretary at St. Michaels Church. William started a purebred cattle breeding operation in 1954 known as W-T-K Polled Herefords (the name for the farm came from the initials of the family members – William, Tom and Kathy). W-T-K held production sales and were renowned world-wide.
