I miss you, Chelsea.  It's been 6 months but it feels like an eternity since I've last seen you.  I think about you every single day.  I love you so much.  Unconditionally.  ?  Don't ever forget.

Hi Mr. and Mrs. Yean. I went to elementary school with Chelsea and just found out today that she died. I'm really sorry about her passing and I wish you and your family well.

the Yean family i am very sorry for your loss of Chelsea. I didn't know her very well but i remember when i first met her. I was at lunch not eating food when she offered me some of her own. That was the first and now the last time i will ever talk to her. She was a very nice girl that i was honored to meet.

When I learned of her passing, I wrote this to Chelsea:


I really wish I could have known you better. You were always so nice to me at karate, and you always had nothing but a smile and kind words for me. Over the past month and a half, you have been an inspiration and pillar of strength for us all. Despite your own grief and suffering, you were always able to help people who were down, and I can’t tell you how much that meant to me and to everyone else who knew you. You had the power to heal others, and I so, so wish that you had had enough power to heal yourself. Knowing you has been a privilege, and over the coming days and weeks, I will try very hard to take your advice. I will keep smiling, because I know that it’s good for me, and I will always remain optimistic. For you.


Know that even the people who only knew Chelsea at a distance loved and admired her for everything that she was. You have my deepest condolences.

What a gift we all received when Chelsea was born! Her big, beautiful, bright, brown eyes just shining! She brought joy and laughter to all around her. She has taught her brother and sisters that they can do anything they set their mind to. She was trusted by her friends, loved by so many! Vanna and Malika - you raised Chelsea to be strong, confident, proud, wise, true, and faithful, to believe in herself enough to be herself. You gave her the tools and encouragement to allow her to shine in her way, to be the girl she was and the woman she wanted to be. I am so sorry this has happened to your family. Her presence here on Earth will be missed deeply, but, something tells me she will continue to influence her family and friends from a place where she can now call home. I love you all and will continue to say my prayers for you and keep you and your family in my thoughts. God Bless this family and all her friends she knew and everyone that cares about her.

Words are weak and meaningless when it comes to the saddness we feel for such a wonderful family.  Have faith, find comfort, know that your beautiful daughter Chelsea is with God and there is no better place.  One day you will be with her again!

I am so incredibly sorry to hear about Chelsea.  I had her as a student in my 9th grade English class and directed her in theater at Lake.  She was so talented in both, and was a warm and giving person whom I deeply respected.  Her light will be missed.  You are all in my prayers.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Yean and family,
I did not know your daughter directly, but her life and death has deeply touched our family through my daughter Ali. Eric and Chelsea were a source of support and strength for Ali during some very hard times she was going through, and I regret never having the opportunity to say thanks to them both in person.
