Whenever I see rhubarb growing I think of Evie. I first met Evie when she rang my doorbell and asked if I would mind if she cut some of my rhubarb to make her special rhubarb bars. Thus, began a friendship and a standing joke that Evie was my neighborhood farmer. I knew nothing about rhubarb and Evie taught me what to look for and when to cut. Evie was a kindhearted neighbor, always there to lend a helping hand and share a kind word. I will miss her.

It was always a blessing to see Evie and her sisters around Memorial Day at Greenleafton Reformed Church. Every year she stopped by church to visit before heading out to the GRC cemetery. I will miss those visits and her encouraging words. Blessings! Pastor Roger

My wife, Marilyn, and I met Evie and Larry when Larry and I worked for the City of West Des Moines several years ago. Evie's love of her family was always her top priority. Evie , had a wonderful sense of humor, very enthusiastic about life and was a loving and caring Mother and Wife. Evie became a instant friend with everyone she met. Larry and Evie shared a very" special" deep love with each other. Sending condolences, prayers and love.

I met Evie through our neighborhood book club and we soon became friends. She motivated me to get out and walk. We did many steps together, chatting along the way. She was a joy to visit with and will be missed by many

Evie and I became friends in 1969 when we both worked at 1st Federal Savings & Loan in Albert Lea. We shared our friendship through many wonderful lifetime events of births, weddings and so much more. Evie had a beautiful and loving soul who thought of others before herself. She had true faith in God. I am so blessed to have had her in my life for over 50 years! She will live on in my heart forever. Larry, Jen, Sarah and family, may you find comfort, strength and healing by remembering all the happy times in the past.

My wife, Mary and I, met Larry and Evie in Fountain Hills, Arizona. An instant friendship developed which spanned quite a few years. Meeting at Tavern On Grand in St. Paul once a month in the summer, going to art fairs, sharing our love of flowers and birds, eating out and going to Happy Hours in Fountain Hills, deep conversations, and loads of laughter. I will miss Evie so much, but know that she is enjoying God’s greatest gift right now, which is eternal life. Gone, but not forgotten, her presence will be felt in many different ways. Rest In Peace, Evie!

We met Evie when we first moved to Albert Lea in 1978 and we’re eating at McDonald’s. We heard someone say “Oh look Sarah! Another girl from Korea.” They came over to our table to meet our Sarah & welcomed us to Albert Lea! Instant friends and start of our relationship with that common bond of families through adoption & love for the Lord. They invited us to their church which we attended while in town. Even with their & our moves, we kept in contact. Our adoptive son was born on her birthday & she loved having a birthday mate to share the date with! A very special caring outgoing lady who were will be dearly missed! God’s comfort & peace for the family!

I met Evie by the pool at our condo in AZ where we were both winter visitors from MN. She was sharing pictures of her family and I heard her mention that she had a daughter that was adopted from Korea. I jumped out of the pool and said that I had a daughter adopted from Korea. We talked and talked and became instant friends. Evie was special. She loved to get together and have fun. We spent many New Years Eve’s together in AZ. When we were both in MN, we would get together for dinner the 3rd Wednesday of every month at Tavern on Grand. So many laughs and great memories. Evie, I will never forget you. You were such an added blessing to my life. Much love and prayers to Larry, Sarah, and Jenny.
