It has been some time now. Althought it feels like it was yesterday, I can not put into words the loss I feel. You were so much more then my Grandpa. You were at every big event in my life supporting me and loving me. I have so many wonderful memories and for that I am grateful. The time we shared will forever be priceless to me. I wish my kids could have the expierences with you that I was so lucky to have. You will forever be in my heart. I love you Grandpa!!

God's garden must be beautiful he always takes the best. He knew that you were suffering, He knew you were in pain, He knew that you would never get well on earth again. NATALIE'S WEDDING SPEECH

I want to talk about another important man in my life who could not be here with us.

For those of you who did not have the privelage of meeting Gerald Frascone SR., or also known as, Dad, Grandpa, Jerry, Jer, Uncle Jerry, Vitto, WOP, and Guido, you definitely missed out on a good time.  Uncle Jerry had the smartest and swiftest wit out of anyone on this earth, plus the sarcasm to match it.  He was a man of many words, opinions, love, and humor.  He had the most contagious-lovable laugh, and most of the time that is what he was doing.  I'll always cherish my memories of growing up with him, espceically the ones up at the cabin.  I can still hear and see him singing his country songs like Willie Nelson and Vince Gill, while drinking his Brandy and playing pinochle with the adults.  To Uncle Jerry, his family was his top priority.  He would do anything for any one of us.  He treated his girls like princesses and showed his boys how to be men.

Dad's Eulogy

MY FATHER’S LEGACY
Thank You all for coming. I look around this room today and see memories. I see the faces and the hearts of the life and love that is my father’s legacy. I see the love my father gave to this world, and the love he receives. And most of all, I see the hope. He overcame so much to build hope. He gave it to his brothers and sisters, his nieces and nephews, his children, his wife and his friends. And when he was facing death, he held hope and determination in his heart. He lived by a code, a moral compass, that was very rare and sometimes difficult to understand in the context of an often selfish and unforgiving world. But he never cared to satisfy our idea of the truth. He gave us truth as he saw it and learned it, and hoped we would learn from it. His honesty, his integrity, and his humor permeates this room and every room where we will remember him. And we will remember him. You can’t help but remember him. He changed us in subtle and profound ways. He walks with us and smiles with us and laughs with us. And he will never leave us. He will be beside us when we need him, and inside us when we need a light in the darkness of our lives. His legacy for us was always filled with hope and perseverance, and we should walk from here today knowing that legacy is real, and alive.

Dear Mom, the life you and Dad lived and how you raised us will always be the example that I will use to lead my life with.  Thank you for showing me the way to my true love.    

My eulogy for my Dad:

"Though I will try, my words won't do my Dad justice, for he was everything I ever wanted or needed in a Father.

He taught me respect of others and especially for myself.  He instilled in me pride for family.  He showed me the way to independence even if he didn't agree with all my choices. 

He tried to keep his heartaches from my Brothers and I, but was always generous with his love and laughter.

Dad never wanted me to leave home and that wasn't more evident than the day before my wedding.  We went to the church for rehearsal.  Well, all except for Dad.  He never explained where he'd been, just that he couldn't give me away twice.

His love for family and friends filled his soul especially his love for my Mom.

My Mother was his best friend, his world, and his life, his everything.

I will always be thankful for the time I spent with my Dad, especially in these last few months.  Dad, you are my Hero and I will miss you all the days of my life."  Your Loving Daughter, Lorena 

My eulogy from the funeral service:

    I would like to take this opportunity to say goodbye to my dad and share a few things with all of you.

    As I was unwilling to admit to myself for a long time, I do know that my dad was right more often than not. Of course I never would have wanted to admit it to him but he was!  For example, he was right when he told me I was going to marry my beautiful wife, Jamie, way back when I was in highschool; to be more precise the first time he ever saw Jamie.

     My dad was also right about how important family is.  I always knew family was important but I did not understand it entirely until I started my own.  I pray I can raise my own family with all the wisdom, confidence and grace as my dad has done.  I only hope I can teach my son all of the life lessons dad has taught me.

     I hope to continue to make him proud as I know he will be watching over my family and I.  My dad has been right on so many occasions and I will continue to see he was right as my life moves on.

    I love you dad and I am going to miss you forever.  I cannot wait to see you again one day.

Below you will find the words I spoke at my Grandfather's memorial in an effort to describe who and what he was to me.

He's just a man that
left this world the same way he spent his time in it...
with honor, courage, love and a contagious sense of humor.

He's just a man that 
taught us all about honor through his years of service in the marines he pride fully spoke of or decades of working at the railroad to provide for his family.

He's just a man that
courageously assumed the role of mentor and role model to anyone that needed it, because he believed it was the right thing to do.

He's just a man that
lived every day to give and receive love from his friends and family. Even if at times, he gave his love through an affectionate slap across the back of the head.

He's just a man that
found joy and humor in the little things and could turn the mood of  a room with a grin that left everyone wondering what he just got away with.

He wasn't just a man,
He was my hero and
He will be forever missed.

The words I spoke during the service for my dad are below. I will miss him always and will do my best to honor him all the days of my life. I love you Mom and I am here for you always. 

When my dad received the news of his cancer, he said that he was fine; he didn't get upset at all. It was so like him to face the direst of circumstances without flinching. He lived by example that way. He didn't get scared, ever. In fact, one thing he said was, "I came into this world crying, and I'm not going out crying." It reminded me of something I once read, it said...

When you are born, 
You cry and the world is happy.
When you die,
The world cries, and you are happy.......I know my dad is happy. He lived a beautiful life with the woman he loved more than anything.

We all spent a lot of time with my dad through the cancer treatments. My mom worked tirelessly day and night to attend to his every need, and we all did whatever we could to help out. It was an honor for all of us. It was never work. It was love. I had a special moment with my dad in the last few weeks of his treatment. He got off my sofa and walked over to me and just hugged me. We embraced each other and no words were actually spoken. My dad always told me he loved me and how proud he was of me, but this moment was both of us telling each other we loved each other without the need to speak. It was truly profound.

My sister-in-law Amy found this next poem and we feel it is fitting for the occasion.

i cannot explain in words how deeply i am saddened by the loss of uncle jerry. i can only remember how much of a great and wonderful uncle he was to me and my sister. i will never forget the fishing lessons on spirit lake and the times on nevada street where salt and pepper always seemed to get on his nerves, but he always had words of wisdom for us. i am positive that the 3 musketeers are rejoined and having one for old times sake. he was a great man and will be truly missed.

The feeling of losing you is undescribable.  You were not only my Uncle Jerry, but my second dad. The memories from up at the cabin, and spending summers with you and Antie Dianne are all that play in my head.  I still cant fathom that you are gone.  It doesn't feel real.  Having to go say goodbye to you tomorrow is going to be the hardest thing.  I dont want you to be gone.  I want you here.  I want to see you again, and I want to dance with you at my wedding.  None of this is fair.  I will miss you until the day I see you again.  Thank you for all you have done and given me throughout my years.  I love you with every part of me Uncle Jerry.

I remember when you and Jerry got married and the two of you were so in love.   Your love grew stronger than any love I have ever seen.  The coming days, months and years will be hard for you but always remember that there will be an angel watching over you forever.  Love, Bev

Every thing feels so surreal. I wish I could have stopped time a few summers ago at one of our 4th of July vacations. The laughter, the fun and the great times we shared together will always be a cherished memory. I wish I could bring him back for just one more 4th of July. I wish he could see Natalie get married and to share his dance with her. I wish I could read the road signs to him as he drove just one more time. I wish I could see his impish smile as he tried to sneak past a Christmas Around the World store without stopping (their fudge was his reward for stopping). I wish Dianne and I could get mad at him and Gene one more time for going to the pull tab tournaments for 5 hours. I will always miss his smile and how he and Gene cheated at Pictionary. I will always love him and only hope that all of my wonderful memories can help to fill the hole in my heart. I will miss him so much. I am so proud and honored to be a close part of your family and I hope you understand how much I love all of you.

Dianne & Family- We were so shocked to hear about Jerry.  He has always been one of our favorite customers, always bringing in a smile & passing it along.  Even the last time I talked with him I believed with his wonderful attitude & hope that we would see him coming in on a daily basis again.  We will all miss him. It's hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that Uncle Jerry is gone.  Who is going to critique my writing?  Who is going to tell me to stop whining?  
I loved him like he was my dad and will always remember our summer vacations and cabin time.  I miss him, there is definitely a big whole in my heart right now that will never be filled.  
I feel honored to call him my Uncle.  I love you all.
