Jayne A. Schmitt

This world is a sadder place because of the loss of our beloved Jayne, matriarch of a good and strong German/Irish family. Jayne, age 61, of Estero, FL, (formerly of Woodbury and Burnsville, Minnesota) died suddenly on May 7, 2012 at her home in Florida. Jayne was preceded in death by her childhood love and husband Michael and her daughter Michelle. She is survived by her children Derek (Sara), Sara, Kevin (Jessica); her grandchildren Helena, Briar, Warren, Jayne, Maddox, Mikaylah, Lorelai, and Maggie; her parents Benjamin and Ann Rank; siblings Ellen (Dennis) Debe, Brian (Joyce) Rank, Jeffrey (Beth) Rank, Susan (Ron) Krausz, Glen Rank (Jo), Emily Rank (Melvin), and Timothy (Julie) Rank; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cherished friends, especially John Dancek. Jayne’s vibrant energy, her positive demeanor, and her open attitude drew people to her, and she made lasting friendships wherever she lived. Jayne possessed a remarkable work ethic, studying for her MBA at night while working full time. She broke boundaries in her professional career, rising up the corporate ladder, ultimately serving as the Chief Financial Officer for a major defense corporation. And yet, Jayne’s greatest pleasure was her family; she hosted many joyous family parties in her home (hot dogs and chips anyone?). She loved the Florida sunshine, her golfing buddies, reading, dancing, sipping wine by the pool (or anywhere, really), and travel. Mass of Christian Burial Thur. 11AM at ST AMBROSE OF WOODBURY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 4125 Woodbury Dr. Visitation Wed 5-8 PM at WULFF WOODBURY FUNERAL HOME, 2195 Woodlane Dr. and 1 hour prior to Mass at church. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery.
