Just ran across this as I was thinking about friends from past days.  I was friends with Kevin and Wendy and played many many many games of tennis with Joel.  I lost every time and he was always willing to play another match with a smile.  Probably because he knew he’d win.  He had a great spirit and was always smiling.  Sorry to hear of the family’s loss.  

Dyann, I know that we've lost touch since we worked together at IHM, but I am so sad to hear about the loss of your son. My heart goes out to you at this difficult time. Please know that you and Wendy and all your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Joel will be missed, I worked with Joel for over six years and the guy could make me laugh on a dime. even looking at the pictures makes me smile he definitely had way on making a bad day good! Our prayers are with his family. We did a lot of out of work stuff together I feel the best of times were going to wild games. Miss you my friend.

When Joel left us it left a huge hole of love that he took with him.  He was a great uncle and I will miss him.

My dear friend and co-worker. I considered Joel a very good friend.  We went out on break everyday together and also  had lunch together everyday.  After I left my position at Goodin Co. Who was the one to call me to see how it was going?  Joel!  That meant the world to me. I missed him most when I left. I will miss you so very much my dear buddy!!  Mrs. Witucki and Wendy, I am so very sorry for your loss. Joel was a very special person and he spoke of you both often. He loved you all very much.

Joel did have a gentle spirit - I can honestly say I never heard an unkind word from him. He always knew how to get a smile and was always kind to me. As Scotty mentioned, it is easy to lose touch after high school...but when I saw Joel at our class reunion, he was exactly the same, making everyone feel comfortable and sharing smiles all around. My prayers are for you, Joel's family, for your immense loss.

Joel was one of my best childhood friends. He befriended me after my father died when I was very young. His dad was like a second father. The Witucki family always meant so much to me. Joel and I spent countless hours just hanging out at his parent's house. We played and won several championships on the Newport Rebels football team. He taught me how to play tennis. He helped me survive high school. When I left the USN some of the best times i've ever had were just hanging out with him and Scott. Life got very busy after that and we really fell out of touch. The last time I saw him was at his father's funeral a few years back. One of my biggest regrets was never getting back in touch with him. Life is too short. Along with many of his other friends my heart goes out to his mother Dyann and sister Wendy. He will be profoundly missed. I will always be grateful for what Joel and his family did for me.

  I wish I could be there with all of you as you say good-bye, but just know you all are in my Prayers.   He is gone way too soon. There is so much I want to say  but I can't even get the words out.  You will be missed Cousin by everyone who knew you.   Kim Gentry and Family

I am so sad to read this news.  As a new student at Woodbury High School, Joel was welcoming and kind and it meant so much to me.  Sending his family prayers and courage.

As a lot of people do when they get older and move on with their lives, Joel and I grew apart, as we lived in different states. This man was my best friend...and I am deeply saddened by this tragedy. My heart goes out to his Mother and sister and the rest of his family and friends. We will meet again my friend...
