Larry,
I miss you and think of you daily. It's hard to imagine our family getting together's without you there sharing a story or an opinion. You shared many of those" life lessons" with me when driving me to work at the hospital. Things like : "if you drive really fast on washboard roads you miss the bumps", or " if you don't like what's being served for breakfast just do your chores slowly and then you won't have to eat". Seriously, my life was richer and I felt like someone cared when you took me places. Thank-you for being my "Big Brother" even when you didn't want to. I will look for you in the days ahead in the world around me. Rest in peace in the arms of Jesus. You are forever in my heart. Denyse

It was a real privilege meeting and caring for this unbelievably nice man. I express condolences to friends and family, hope the care I gave him was helpful and that he knew our clinic all really liked him and Nadine.

Larry,
Thanks for all you did for me as a Godfather. I remember dressing up each Christmas Eve so I could visit Santa, and sitting with you and learning different ways to tie my fishing line. You were always interested in what I was doing in school and my career and ready to offer suggestions or just listen. Every interaction we had you showed me kindness. I hope that where you are there is a glassy lake and the fish are biting! I will miss you Uncle Larry! May God Bless You! Love John

I will always remember Uncle Larry as Santa Clause at the Gergen family Christmas Eve parties!  He was a warm person who was happy to share a chuckle.  Our deepest condolences to Nadine, Nate, Anne, Paul, and their families.  You are in our thoughts and prayers and we are sending you our love.

I remember Larry getting down on the floor and playing with his kids, his interest in technology and the latest devices - especially if they went on his boat!  I remember looking up to Larry and his work at 3M as an engineer - I even went to work with him on a "career day" and it helped me decide to go into a technology career myself.  I remember stories of how Larry taught me to say my S's without a lisp when I was little - quite important when your name is Scott. I remember Larry and Nadine and the kids visiting Mom and Dad on the farm on a very regular basis and stories about how it was when he was growing up.  I remember long talks about fishing and life while sitting on the dock or fishing out of one of our boats.  I remember the twinkle in his eye and his little chuckle when he'd set the hook on a walleye or smallmouth often followed by a comment describing exactly what he was doing to entice the fish to bite.  I remember bow hunting in Red Wing, duck hunting on Lake of the Woods and target shooting on the farm. Lots of great memories to carry with me as time goes on - I'll miss you Larry.  Hope you'll still join me in the boat now and then - I'll save you a spot.  Love you big brother!

Dad always said to leave a place better than you found it.  Mission accomplished Dad, you did that and we are going to miss you.  Love you Dad.

Our deepest condolences to Nadine, Anne, Nathan and Paul.  Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and your families during this difficult time. Our entire family watched as Larry, with the help of his family, fought to be healthy and enjoy his life - including fishing! Larry was avid about passing on his love to his family, especially the grandchildren. We admired Larry for his undaunted courage in the face of many years of challenges and will carry his warm, deep laughter in our hearts forever. A sister's love will live forever.

My deepest sympathies to the Gergen family. Larry helped me a great deal at the start of my 3M career. He was very knowledgeable and taught me how to get things done in 3M. Thank you Larry and may you rest in peace. I will never forget you.

So sorry to learn of Larry's death.  You have been in my prayers at Mass and in our adoration chapel.  Dave recalled how Larry loved fishing, so my wish is that he will enjoy his favorite activity along with the vision of God.  I will see you soon.  Love, Marie
