Leonard E. "Larry" Thorne

Of St. Paul, MN

Passed away on April 8, 2014. He proudly served in the US Navy for two years. Larry was a talented musician who especially enjoyed country music. In his younger years, he was the lead guitarist for his band called “The Flexibles”, and he taught guitar lessons for many years. He successfully played both pool and poker on professional levels, and enjoyed cribbage too. His cars were always clean and shiny, and he liked his coffee black. Above all, Larry loved his children and he showed it. He shared a passion of sun and water with them, frequently taking them to the beach in the summer. He often spoke to his caregivers at the nursing home of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Larry will remain in the hearts of his four children: Dawn Cottrell (Bruce), Michael Thorne, Rebecca Carver (Bob), and Laura Behr (Tim); nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; his sister, Shirley Matykiewicz; and his nieces & nephews, extended family and friends. A funeral service will be held to celebrate Larry’s life at 10 AM on Monday, April 14 at Wulff Woodbury Funeral Home, 2195 Woodlane Dr., Woodbury. Visitation for one hour prior to the service. Interment with military honors to follow in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to his family.
