Margarita “Piru” Osorio Rawlings Ochoa, 46, of Woodbury, Minn., passed away on October 20, 2016, with her family and friends by her side, after a brief and courageous battle with brain cancer. Margarita will be deeply missed by Guillermo, her loving husband of 25 years, and her sons, Matias and Martin, whom she adored. When Margarita moved from Chile to Minnesota in 2012, her life changed profoundly. In her personal life, she and her husband embraced the joys and challenges of raising their family in a new culture. Professionally, Margarita left her law practice behind and decided to pursue her love of art while living in the United States. She first began painting during her pregnancy with Martin. Over time, she developed a passion for painting vibrantly colored abstract images, using a mix of oils and acrylics on large canvases. Her work was shown in gallery exhibitions and sold internationally. During the painting process, Margarita always said she was inspired by the emotions and energy within her—driving forces that she hoped people would feel when they saw the textures, colors, and scope of her work. In addition to a personality that was as beautiful and vibrant as her paintings, Margarita will be remembered as a devoted wife and mother, an active community volunteer, a supporter of the arts, an avid book lover, and an enthusiastic cheerleader for all of her sons’ academic, athletic, and personal endeavors. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorials to the American Brain Tumor Association (www.abta.org/donate/) or the new children’s library at Aurora Charter School in Minneapolis (please direct to Guillermo Ochoa, as this was a personal endeavor of Margarita’s). A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, October 26, at 10:00 a.m., at Guardian Angels Catholic Church at 8260 4th St. N., Oakdale, Minn. Margarita will be laid to rest in Chile.
