Austin, I am really sorry to hear about your dad.

Dear James & Katherine, Kristy, Jackie, and his children.  You may not remember me (Jim and Katherine, Kristy) or didn't know me (Jackie and children) but Mark and I were friends in high school and after graduation through Messiah.  Although we lost touch over the years I always remembered Mark fondly and am truly saddened to hear of his passing.  The words of others written here speak to a character I recall from many years ago.

I know it is hard to lose someone as I lost my father when I was 23 and my father-in-law after 3 years of marriage.  Our prayers are with you and your children.  May they always remember their father as he appears in the wonderful pictures in the gallery.

Mark will be sorely missed.  He had a very big heart and just wanted everyone to be happy.  He enjoyed a good time, once saying, "When I'm 90, no one is going to care that I stayed home to clean, rather, they are going to want to listen to memories!"  Mark, I am saddened beyond belief, heart-broken if you will, that you did not live to see 90.  At times like this, I really regret living so far away from Minnesota.  Maybe I could have been there in troubled times and we most certainly would have had more opportunities to create memories.  Thank you for always being the "comforter" to everyone around you, and sorry we weren't successful in comforting you.  Enjoy your long awaited and well-deserved comfort now.  One last thing, if there is kneeboarding in Heaven, you need to get Evan caught up.  Haley can do it and loves it and even tried a 360 the other day!  Keep your eyes on her and Austin so that you don't miss anything.  All my love...

Jim - I was so saddened to read of Mark's passing.  Words cannot express how deep my sympathy goes for you and your family.  Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers.  May God give you the strength to move forward especially during this most difficult time.  I am so very sorry!

I was fortunate to work briefly with Mark through the State of Minnesota the past few months.  In the little time I came to know him he was always such a friendly, helpful and genuine individual.  I am so truly sorry for your loss.  Know that both Mark and your family are in my prayers.  The State of Minnesota lost a truly superb worker and even better individual.  He will be missed.

Kathy and family - What a lovely way to share Mark's life with us in photos - some from very early in his life.  I'm guessing one of his great family photos was from a fun trip to Disney World.  He looks so much like Jim.  My heart goes out to all of you in the loss of your son and father.

I am so sorry for your loss! I went to high school with Mark and he was such a genuine person, always very kind and quick with a smile and a laugh.  You are in my thoughts and prayers.  Mark will be dearly missed!

I had an opportunity to work with Mark periodically through a relationship his agency had with the Department of Revenue.  He was a great person!  Very intelligent, hardworking, and always a pleasure to work with.  He had a wonderful smile that will be missed.  You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

I work at MDOR and Mark was my counterpart at DHS.  We worked together for the last 3.5 years and I will dearly miss working with Mark.   I will miss looking at my ringing phone, seeing Mark's number and thinking uh-oh, what did I do now.  He was a wonderful person.

I remember Mark from training he attended at DHS, and am so sorry to hear of his passing.  He was a dedicated state employee and valued here at DHS.  He will be missed in the workplace, and I hope all in his family are proud of the service he provided to the citizens of Minnesota.

I have worked with Mark fro 16 yesrs.  Hw will be terribly missed by all those who worked with him everyday. Even now looking into his office to see his smiling face. God bless the family and Mark, know how much we cared.

Today is a sad day and I am not sure what to say.  Mark was my oldest friend and we go back to second grade.  Although we did not talk much in the last few years, when we did it was like old times.  All I have been thinking about today were the days at Pike Lake Elementary in New Brighton and sleepovers watching The Dukes of Hazzard.  We had been emailing over the last couple of years in an attempt to set a dinner date to catch up but our busy family lives didn't allow for the time.  I am sad and will forever be sorry that I didn't make the time to see him.  God bless you Mark, I will keep you and your family in my prayers.
