Mary Rose Severance

19 juillet 19575 octobre 2021

She was born 19 July 1957 in St. Paul, Minnesota. Mary is preceded in death by her father, John; mother, Betty; her brothers, Christopher and Daniel. Mary will be missed by her life companion, Roger Nelson; brother Perry (Terre); sister Roxanne (Gary) Martinson; brother Richard (Melissa); sister Susan; brother Willie (Trang); brother Joe; sister Liz; her Uncle Jim and Aunt Ethel Leisz; her dear Great Aunt, Frieda Farley; close friends Larry and Jan Hinchman; Boykin Spaniels Ida and Mabel; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Mary worked for more than forty years for what became International Paper. Mary was sweet, beautiful and brave. Her gift was gathering children and animals, both domestic and wild, around her where she kept them safe and contained. Mary had empathy, perceived the unspoken things in life, and had a sense of humor. Few people can tell a funnier story with more irony, tenderness, and gestures than Mary. She enjoyed spending weekends at the cabin on Little Blake Lake in Wisconsin. Mary trained dogs in obedience for many years; more recently she helped train her Boykins as hunting dogs, earning titles and a collection of ribbons on dogs in both obedience and hunting. She was an Associate at J&L Boykin Spaniels where she made many friends. Mary excelled at and enjoyed cooking main dishes, side dishes, salads, breads, cookies, bars; she spent days with her sister Susan preparing a single meal for family. If food is love, it's people like Mary who make it that way.

My sincere condolences to Mary's family. I had the pleasure of working in the cubicle next to Mary for a number of years. She was hard working, funny, quick witted and very smart and just delightful to be around. We shared lots of laughs and some tears over the years. She will be missed. She left us much too soon. May you find solace in her wonderful memories. Love

I’m so glad to have known and worked with Mary. She was a pleasure to work with and a gem of a human being. We had a lot of laughs - sometimes heard all the way across the office!😂 My deepest condolences - she will be missed.

The loss of Mary leaves a huge hole in our hearts and work lives. The office will not be the same! Mary was very dedicated to her job and customers during her 46 years with
Harper/Boise/Willamette/Weyerhaeuser/International Paper. We all enjoyed hearing the wonderful stories of her dearly loved four legged companions and took delight in the wonderful treats she shared.

We share the burden of your loss and wish the Severance family peace and strength through this most difficult time.

Mary has been the best friend and dog-mom and kitty-mom for so many years. A wonderful chef/baker, so giving and kind hearted. A supporter of animal shelters and rescues that she believed in. I am so sorry and she will be so missed.

We have known and loved Mary for 6+ years/ the length of time that we have had Gracie from Mary’s beloved Ida Belle’s first litter of puppies.
Mary was loving, generous, gentle, soft spoken, and hard-working. She will be greatly missed by her friends.
Our condolences to her family, having lost Mary too soon.
May God hold you close, comfort you gently, and carry you through.
With love,
