Merita was born and raised on her family's dairy farm in Arcadia, WI, where she cultivated a deep love for her family and learned the value of hard work. She graduated from Arcadia High School in 1976 and went on to attend Gustavus Adolphus College, earning an accounting degree in 1980.
Her impressive career at First Bank System and US Bank spanned nearly forty years, where Merita served as a valued co-worker, mentor, and executive, retiring as Senior Vice President in 2019. Throughout her life, she was known for her humor and dedication to friends and family…always there to lend a hand. She had a strong faith in God and shared God's love with all who knew her in her personal life and through her involvement with Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Afton, MN.
Merita demonstrated unconditional love and support to her brothers, Kent and Terry, and her sisters-in-law, Kathy and Sally, as the self-proclaimed “well-adjusted middle child”. She also had a genuine passion for loving and befriending her nieces and nephews and delighted in choosing the perfect Christmas present for each of them every year. Her holiday meals were legendary and the annual family viewing of “White Christmas” was a tradition not to be missed. As a lifelong fan and shareholder of the Green Bay Packers, Merita ensured that her family was always well-equipped with an abundant supply of Green Bay Packers clothing and memorabilia.
Merita's legacy of love, faith, and dedication to family, friends, and her community will be remembered by all who knew her. She leaves behind a multitude of cherished memories and will be deeply missed.
