Richard Edward Bushinski

Rick is survived by his partner of 34 years, Shawn Matalas; his daughter, Patrice (Zachary) Bos; his mother, Carol Bushinski; siblings Beth, Karen, Gary, Michael, Joy, and Scott; and his cherished grandchildren, Lawrence, Luciano and Harmony. He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald E. Bushinski, and his grandparents.

Rick was a vibrant and kind-hearted man, loved by all who knew him. He was respected for his conscientious work ethic during his 38-year career as a trackman and machine operator with the Union Pacific Railroad. A man of many interests, Rick was an avid outdoorsman and sports enthusiast. He continued playing softball well into his 50’s, enjoyed golf twice weekly with friends, and was a passionate downhill skier. His love for motorcycles led him on many memorable trips with friends and family.

Additionally, Rick had a knack for mechanics, particularly with cars and engines and enjoyed wine and craft beers and occasionally brewing at microbreweries.

A devout Catholic, Rick worshiped at St. Pascal Baylon Catholic Church in St. Paul, MN, and St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Woodbury, MN. His faith and community were central to his life.

The Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at St. Pascal Baylon Catholic Church, 1757 Conway St, St Paul, MN, with visitation at 9:30 AM followed by the Mass at 10:30 AM on August 23, 2024. Luncheon to follow.

Rick’s life was full of love and laughter, and many memorable moments with his friends and family, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
