Grandpa, Friend
Age 70
Of Woodbury
Died on Wed., 5/11 with family at his side. Preceded in death by parents, Robert & Laverne. Survived by wife, Jeannie; children, Heather Olson, Rob (Nikki); granddaughter, Haley Olson; sister, Joan; many nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and co-workers. Bob was born in St. Paul, grew up on the east side, and graduated from Harding High School. He went to St. Paul TVI to become a pipefitter and worked for Harris Mechanical as a member of Local 455 for 33 years. He was married to Jeannie, his loving wife for 47 years. They loved to dance at Withrow Ballroom and he was one heck of a dancer. Most recently they enjoyed going to the casino together. He loved hunting and fishing and snowmobiling. After his spinal surgery in 1990 his utmost concern was providing for his family. He transitioned to Estimator at Harris and remained in that role until he retired in 2011 - just in time for his new role as Grandpa. His granddaughter, Haley was the apple of his eye and he loved giving her rides on his scooter. They became a fixture in the neighborhood and could be seen riding all around town. He loved hanging out in the garage with his buddies drinking beer and barbecuing, watering his flowers, and watching the Vikings with his son Rob. In January he was diagnosed with stage 4 Lymphoma and fought a courageous battle for 4 months. He was an inspiration to many and will be deeply missed. Memorial gathering on Thurs., 5/19, 4-8PM at Wulff Woodbury Funeral Home, 2195 Woodlane Dr., Woodbury, with sharing at 6PM. Memorials may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or the Lymphoma Research Foundation.
