Sherry was born November 9, 1943 in St. Paul, Minnesota. She is survived by her son, Bob (Jane) Leeper; grandchildren: Josh (Beth) (and expected great granddaughter), Hannah, and Sarah; step children and their families: Catherine (Todd) Ellefson (Kyle, Jennifer), Ellen (Lee) Gillespie (Katie, Erin), and Rob (Lori) Simpson (Ryan, Connor); sister Nancy Ostertag, and many beloved family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Don Simpson and her brother Dennis Spatgen.
She married Don Simpson in 1985, he preceded her in death in 2011. Sherry lived life to its fullest, giving her love and friendship generously. Those who knew her were truly blessed. She had a thirst for knowledge and loved to learn, earning her Bachelor’s degree at 50 years old. Sherry was crowned Woodbury’s Sr. Queen in 2017. Sherry enjoyed volunteering, vacations, gardening, dance, bowling, golfing, happy hour in her garage, and pickles! But most of all, she enjoyed spending time with family.
Sherry passed away on October 3 after suffering a double stroke and broken neck. She fought for a week, but complications from her injuries were just too much for her to conquer. She is at peace in God’s loving hands as we mourn her passing.
