Verna June Gardiner

Born on a farm near Fort Branch, IN, Judy was the youngest of eight children. Judy received her bachelor's degree from Purdue and master's in library science from University of Illinois. She married Robert “Bob” Gardiner in 1966.

Judy and Bob lived the past 25 years in a townhome on Woodbury’s Prestwick Golf Course where they have wonderful neighbors and friends. Judy loved to travel and visit family; she and Bob wintered in St. George, UT, and La Quinta, CA, hiking, birdwatching, and of course, playing golf. She was known for her genuine warmth and kindness.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents Jessie and John Carter, and siblings: Carl Carter, Joy Schneebeli, Russ Carter, David Carter, and Ann Scheider. She is survived by husband Bob Gardiner, daughter Denise (Tom Arthur) of Bloomington, IN, son John (Jen Neff) of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA. Also survived by sister Pat Carter of Santa Monica, CA and brother John Carter (Barb) of Tucson, AZ.

The family expresses gratitude to their exceptional team of home caregivers: Charity, Taiylor, Mallorey, Adriann, as well as Allina Health Hospice: Susie, Erin, Amber, Mae, and Julia. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Alzheimer’s Association. A memorial celebration will be held later this summer.
