On January 23, 1971, Christie Dawn Whittaker-Murehead was born on a Military Base in Dugway, Utah. She was the second daughter born to Gerald and Donna Whittaker of Elderwood, California. In 1971 when Christie was three months old the Whittaker Family returned to Woodlake to make it their home.
Christie would attend the Woodlake schools until her high school graduation. On June 4, 1987 Christie gave birth to twin boys, Christopher Wayne and Matthew Kayne Whittaker.
Christie was preceded in death by her first husband Chris Campbell. Several years later she met Virgil Mark Murehead. Soon after, they married on March 11, 2000. On March 28, 2001 they were blessed with a third son Virgil Mark Ethan Murehead III.
Christie was a loving wife, mother, sister and daughter to her family. Christie had such a big heart and was willing to help anyone as her health permitted.
Christie was an avid baker and carried on her Grandmothers famous recipes which were always a hit with her family. She loved scrapbooking, crafts, photography and gardening. Christie loved to go to My Voice Media to teach scrapbooking and crafts.
Christie is survived by her parents, Gerald and Donna Whittaker; her loving husband, Mark who stood by her side during her illness and her three sons Christopher, Matthew and Ethan. She is also survived by her sister Tami Acuña and husband Eddie; two uncles, Gary Brant and Robert Brant and wife Kathy; niece Maddison Acuña and nephew Nathan Acuña and wife, Mallory. Christie’s pride and joy was spending time with her four grandchildren, Haley, Hayden, Malachi and Sanya. Christie will be sorely missed by her family.
Services will be held at Miller Memorial Chapel, 1120 W. Goshen Avenue in Visalia on Friday, March 16, 2018 at 9 a.m. Interment will follow at Exeter Cemetery in Exeter, California next to her Grandparents, Howard and Edie Brant of Woodlake.
