Ashraf Shaheid

Ashraf Shaheid was born on January 5th 1942 in diamond village East Bank Demerara in Guyana South America. The son of Ghannie Rahim and Jane Bephia Ramotar. Brother of Lyroun Chattersingh , Shirley Sookhai , and the late Lynette D'oliveira, his brother-in-laws are the late Gary D'oliveira ,the late Rudolph Chattersingh, and late Ruben Sookhai . He was an uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Husband of Winifred Shaheid and father of Janice, Camille , and the late Abigail Shaheid.

He was a carpenter and furniture maker, and he worked hard to provide for his family. In 1981 he migrated to the United States and settle in Astoria New York with his family. He worked as a carpenter at The School of Visual Arts.

A devout and faithful witness of Jehovah .

He grew up in the Truth and was baptized in 1958.He became an elder in his twenties, and served for many years in Guyana, where he has aided a few in the truth.

He was a witness for Jehovah first, a lover of Jehovah, a good husband to his wife and he was a girls dad to his three daughters. They were his pride and joy .

He never got over his youngest daughter Abigail's passing, and on his last breath before he died he called on Jehovah & Abigail's name.

He was a quiet & dignified spiritual man who lived his life according to Jehovah's ways.

He set a fine example for everyone and especially for his family. A man who did not carry the Bible in his hand but in his heart.

Ashraf Shaheid is survived by his wife Winifred his two daughters Janice and Camille, his two sisters Lyroun and Shirley and a large extended family.

A visitation for Ashraf will be held Friday, January 31, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Thomas M. Quinn & Sons Funeral Home, 41-45 58th Street, Woodside, NY 11377.

Private Cremation will follow.
