Carol Cerniglia

Carol was survived by her doting husband Peter, loving daughters Lenore and Amanda, cherished

grandchildren Corbin and Samantha, son-in-law Marc, mother Gloria, and brother John as well as many

other close cousins, nieces, nephews, brothers- and sisters-in law, and friends. Preceding her in death

was her father Anthony and brother Joseph (wife Lynette).

Carol was born February 3, 1954 in New York City and grew up in the Queens neighborhoods of Long

Island City and Woodside. She had a fun-filled childhood with her older brothers and cousins, Dorene

and Diane, whom she considered sisters. In the summer of 1971, Carol was setup on a blind date,

where as luck would have it she found her forever love, Peter Cerniglia. Carol and Peter were married

on August 18, 1973 and Carol gained two additional sisters, Lucille and Claire (husband Claudio), and

another brother Paul (wife Jane). Carol and Peter had a devoted marriage of almost 49 years.

Carol dedicated her life to raising her daughters. She was an amazing wife, mom, teacher, mentor,

friend, and therapist, who always put the needs or wants of others before her own. Her grandchildren

were the lights of her life. Her love, dedication, and devotion to Corbin and Samantha was inspiring to all

that knew her and she truly was the epitome of what a grandmother (aka Newey) should be.

Another area in which she devoted her time and energy was caring for her beloved animals as well as

the conservation of animals around the world.

A celebration of life for Carol will be held Sunday, April 10, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Kennedy-Roth Funeral Home, 41- 45 58th Street, Woodside, NY 11377.
