September 17, 2010: Catherine L. Rouse, of Astoria, Queens, left us in her 93rd year, while resting peacefully in her home. Catherine, affectionately known as Kay, was born to Martin and Loretta Fitzgibbons-Rouse in New York, New York, and lived most of her life in the quaint neighborhood of Astoria, Queens.
Ms. Rouse served in her capacity as a manger for the Sears Corporation throughout three consecutive decades, and was revered and well-regarded as the knowledgeable family historian who thoroughly tracked and maintained records of her family's Irish lineage. Catherine will always be remembered by all as a loving sister, devoted daughter, doting Aunt and Godmother, and an enduring, irreplaceable friend. Her humor was matched by no one, as her hallmark candor and sharp wit, which accompanied her throughout the twilight of her passing, served as a most refreshing demeanor towards those who were graced by her presence.
She is survived by the offspring of her late brother, John F. Rouse, and her late sister-in-law, Agnes R. Rouse, who bore John Rouse, Mary Rouse-Farren, Joseph Rouse, Patricia Rouse, of Suffolk County, Long Island, and James Rouse, of New York, New York. Ms. Rouse supplemented the love and support of her immediate family with her generations of true friendship bonded with the entire Hauck family of Nassau County, New York.
